Hello all,
I have build a paginated report in PBI Report Builder that pulls in data from a Power BI dataset, applies a filter, and then publishes a straight set of columns from the table. The problem I am encountering is that even though the PBI dataset has fully loaded into my premium workspace, when I run the paginated report it appears to re-run the query. The performance is abysmal because it needs to pull in 10M records before it filters down to the relatively few records I need (<10K records).
Is there a good resource that explains how the data model works for report builder? I am not clear if this is following the dataset upstream to my DB and pulling from there (I cannot check the logs) or if it is really just taking forever to read in the table that is already in memory in my workspace. If it's the latter, can I get away with creating a pre-filtered table in my PBI datasource and then it will only read in the ~10K records vs 10M?
Appreciate any advice you have for me!

How are you doing this filtering? If you are using the "Filters" collection in the dataset for the paginated report this could explain your issue. You should always avoid using these and use filters/parameters in query instead.
