PowerQuery Applied Steps

I have a tracker I built in PQ, one of my columns is a calculated and it looks like my PQ editor gets stuck on that specific step and wont load past it. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi @madisonmiller,

I understand that you are experiencing a problem where the Power Query editor gets stuck on a specific step and won't load past it. Could you please tell me that if there's any error message or screenshots about this issue? Ensure data privacy, this is a public forum.

To resolve this issue, please follow the steps below:

1. Check for any errors or warnings: - Open the Power Query editor. - Look for any error or warning messages related to the specific step that is causing the issue. - If there are any errors or warnings, try to resolve them by correcting the formula or addressing any data issues.

2. Optimize your query: - Sometimes, complex calculations or transformations can slow down the Power Query editor. - Consider simplifying or optimizing your query by breaking it down into smaller steps or using more efficient formulas. - Remove any unnecessary steps or transformations that are not required for your analysis.

3. Increase memory and performance settings: - Power Query has memory and performance settings that can be adjusted to improve the performance of the editor. - Go to the "Options" menu in Power Query and navigate to the "Global" or "Memory" settings. - Increase the memory limit and adjust other performance settings as needed.

4. Split the query into multiple queries: - If the issue persists, you can try splitting your query into multiple smaller queries. - Each query can focus on a specific part of your data or calculation. - Once you have processed the smaller queries, you can merge them back together using the "Append Queries" or "Merge Queries" functions.

Best Regards,

Stephen Tao

Hi, @Syndicate_Admin

  • Check the calculated column in your Power Query to ensure that the calculation is correct and optimized. Avoid complex calculations if possible.
  • Simplify calculations or break them down into smaller steps to improve performance.
  • If you are performing operations on large datasets, consider optimizing your transformations to reduce the amount of data being processed at each step.
