Simba Spark ODBC Driver Error in On-Premises Gateway

October and November 2024 releases of On-Premises gateway are not working with Azure Databricks.  The error from the logs:

ODBC: ERROR [IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error  126: The specified module could not be found. (Simba Spark ODBC Driver New, C:\Program Files\On-premises data gateway\m\ODBC Drivers\New\Spark\SparkODBC_sb64.dll).

It appears this is a problem in these distributions.

Hi @RyanAdler ,

We have seen on the internal platform that other engineers have reported this issue and submitted it.
The engineers on the product team are now aware and will do their best to resolve the issue. I will update here if there is any progress. Thanks for your patience.

Best regards.

Pretty wild that this hasn't worked for months, would be great to get an update.

@Anonymous
January 2025 version of gateway is out now.
Gateway release page got last updated in October 2024 with November release.
Currently supported monthly updates to the on-premises data gateways | Microsoft Learn
Is the issue fixed now?!

Hello, not that we had any response from microsoft Fabric but we don't have the issue anymore after we updated to the January version of the On-Premises Gateway. no more Simba Spark error with Azure Databricks

We have just updated to the latest version (March 2025), and the issue still remains! The only way we have found to "fix" this, is to replace the Spark folder in the error message (C:\Program Files\On-premises data gateway\m\ODBC Drivers\New\Spark) with the Spark driver folder from C:\Program Files\On-premises data gateway\m\ODBC Drivers\Simba Spark ODBC Driver (renaming it to "Spark" in the new location). Amazing that this has not yet been resolved after so many months.

@Anonymous Please assist!
