Sign In Issues

Hi;

I have looked at the previous issues that is similair to mine, but could not find a solution.

In order to support two different areas in our environment, I am running different versions of Power BI:

  • Version: 2.112.1421.0 64-bit (January 2023) (Report Server)
  • Version: 2.131.1203.0 64-bit (July 2024)

on my laptop.

Version: 2.131.1203.0 64-bit (July 2024) is however giving me sign-in issues after clicking on sign-in it requests my email address and on clicking "Continue" the dialog box dissappears and nothing happens after this.

I have uninstalled both versions, restarted and reinstalled both of them independently and together again. (Several Times) I have reinstalled from the App Store as well as From the official downloads, but to no avail.

The older report server version (Version: 2.112.1421.0 64-bit (January 2023)) accepts the sign-in each time but the normal desktop version (Version: 2.131.1203.0 64-bit (July 2024)) still has the issue. In addition I have cleared the Power Bi and Edge cache just as an additional measure, but no luck.

I am however able to login to Power BI service with the same login details as well and I have tested my account on the same version of Power Bi Desktop on another laptop and it is working just fine.

It is not displaying any errors in the event logs, diagnostics or when enabling tracing.

Status: Investigating

Hi @HendrikS ,

Did you go to File > Options and settings > Options > Security and check the option to use your default browser for authentication. Clear the cache of your default browser and try signing in again?

I logged a Micrsoft ticket and had the please of dealing with Srija Appala.

We did all of the following, but it did not resolve the issue:

Unable to sign in POWERBI Desktop July 2024 version, not throwing any error details, even not prompting to sign in page

++User is able to signin successfully from his personal machine

++able to open the report from desktop

++Tried clearing cache and added DiasbleWam in registry editor

++Reinstalled from MS store ,Web and tried but no luck

++After restarting the machine the user is able to sign in successfully now

++Disconnected VPN and tried still no use

++But when we verified once more like sign out---sign in again  issue exit

++Tried clearing the folder and uninstalled the Desktop

Posting this because it may well resolve your issues.

What finally worked for me was the following:

Using Windows 11

Hence we tried adding below values under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Cryptography\Configuration\Local\SSL\00010003---Functions

Later we tried adding below Dwords under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319---Both values should be set to 1
