Same existing item should have same desired name

When I close and apply my changes, It gives me this error and also doesnt save my work.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Based on the error message,please rename the item with the desired name and republish from Power BI Desktop. The PBIX file should have the same name what you provided in service.

If it doesn't help, please check if there is duplicate item and delete it. Or you may hover over the original item and click on the three ellipses to get the option to rename.

Another solution is to create a separate measures table and move the measures there. To avoid ambiguity, add the table name before the column name in DAX or calculations.

I've just had the same problem (and in my opinion shouldn't have!)

I had two queries, one referencing the other, let's say Query2 referencing Query1.

In the Power Query Editor, I renamed Query1 to Query1New and Query2 to Query1 - no problem until I closed PQ Editor & then got the error.  I un-renamed the queries & republished, then went back to PQ Editor and made the name changes again & all good.
