Power BI Desktop WebView2 crash

Power BI is experiencing a problem with WebView2. We need your help to understand and fix this issue. If you are willing to help out, please contact us at pbidesktopwebview2issues@service.microsoft.com

Status: Delivered

Hi all ,

We have noticed your problem, this problem is mostly related to the environment, usually anti-virus and code integrity conflict, or webview2 should be upgraded, you can refer to this document below.

If the problem still exists, you need to collect logs for further troubleshooting.Since community support engineers don't have that access, I would suggest opening a Support Ticket. And a dedicated Microsoft engineer will come to solve the problem for you.

It would be great if you continue to share in this issue to help others with similar problems after you know the root cause or solution.

Generally if I try and log out of my machine when power bi is open, and then cancel the logout because I want to check I've saved the power bi report, this will happen.

I've been randomly getting this message, starting two weeks ago.

Just lost work because of this. I forgot to save when logging off - got the "PBI is preventing shut-down", however this bug meant I couldn't return to PBI to save.

Recovery file doesn't help becasue the data can't be readily refreshed locally so leaves everything in a mess.

Not a huge amout of work, but still very annoying.

I've lost progress so many times because of this and I'm so tired. How is this still happening?

I'm starting to talk with corporate so they can buy me and the company Tableu licenses instead. It's ridiculous that after two years we have such problems.

OK thanks for finally admitting this is not actually being worked on.

The linked solution is irrelevant. You can imagine how that makes us feel as people who are getting this issue and losing work.

I will create a support ticket for further investigation.

I also encourage all other people experiencing this problem to do so, with more data there is more change of an outcome.

I have just been through the raising a support ticket experience, and have been on a call with a power bi support engineer.

They were able to reliably recreate the issue on their end.

Unfortunately they are unable to offer any support directly because they do not seem to have any way of escalating an issue to the relevant PowerBI development team. After some discussion the support engineer has forwarded the case to somebody they think may be able to help, so I await further developments.

Somebody reported: "Generally if I try and log out of my machine when power bi is open, and then cancel the logout because I want to check I've saved the power bi report, this will happen."

I just had the same experience with the latest Power BI Desktop -version.
