Power BI Dark Mode Feature was released for some users then disappeared

so what happened for many users yesterday is that they opened Power BI and saw a pop up to customize the apperance of Power BI to either dark, light, legacy, or system default and it showed as version October 2024.

They applied the system default but on openining Power BI afterwards, it results back to the default apperance and could find the option under Global report setting.

you can see what they experienced here https://www.linkedin.com/posts/basdohmen_powerbi-update-life-activity-7241775114520858624-Yxh4?utm_s...

can you clarify if this was by mistake or what happened exactly ?

Hi @Idrissshatila

According to a previous reply on https://support.fabric.microsoft.com/en-US/support/ , there was a problem with some of the features due to the Microsoft app mistakenly releasing the October version. Customers are advised to download the installer on Microsoft Download Center for installation.

I received the September 2024 update, which showed me several changes in the presentation of very useful tool panels, which made the design of my reports much easier. However, when the October version was installed, my connection to Azure Databricks was broken, with error messages from the ApacheSpark ODBC driver for Databricks, an issue that could not be resolved.
In the end, I uninstalled all the Power BI software obtained from the Microsoft store. Following the advice of other developers on the blog, I downloaded the most recent version from the Microsoft site, and connectivity with Databricks was restored, but I returned to the June 2024 desktop appearance.
I hope that the Microsoft support area fixes these errors in the October version, since the dark mode is very comfortable when you spend too many hours in front of a white background screen.
