Privacy levels in Fabric

I have been looking to see where I can set the privacy level for warehouses and lakehouses in Fabric, but came up empty. Is it even possible to do so and if it is, how? Thanks!

Hi @ebjim ,

The privacy levels referenced in the screenshot (i.e) Dataflow Gen2 are specific to Power BI and relate to the way you can pull data from multiple sources into a Power BI model. As per the document Document1 , this setting determines how Power BI is allowed to share data across the different data sources defined with the current Power BI file.

Multiple sources here mean that you can have multiple queries in your DataFlow and each query can come from a different data source. And you can create merge queries to join multiple queries together.

The privacy levels for Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse is about setting sensitivity labels. Sensitivity labels from Microsoft Purview Information Protection are a key component for meeting governance and compliance requirements. Labeling your data correctly with sensitivity labels ensures that only authorized people can access your data.

Currently this is not available yet but is on roadmap. You can refer the below link:

Hope this helps in solving your query. Please do let us know if you have any further issues. Glad to help.

Hi @ebjim ,

Thanks for using Fabric Community.
Yes you can set the privacy level for Warehouses and Lakehouses using Fabric.

Microsoft Fabric workspace roles are used to control who has access to and what they can do with the resources in a Fabric workspace. There are four workspace roles in Fabric:

  • Admin: Admins have full control over a workspace, including the ability to create and manage other users, assign roles, and set permissions.
  • Member: Members have full access to all of the resources in a workspace, including the ability to create, edit, and delete content.
  • Contributor: Contributors have the same access to workspace resources as members, but they cannot assign roles or set permissions.
  • Viewer: Viewers can only view workspace resources, they cannot create, edit, or delete any content.

Please refer to these links for further information:

@v-nikhilan-msft Thanks fot the response. I am well aware of the different roles in use for Fabric workspaces. I should explain in more detail. This is the reason for my question:

When I click on 'learn more', I get directed to a page explaining datasource privacy levels in Power BI, which is different from Fabric. So, I needed to know to if Fabric has introduced something similar (looks like the answer is no).

Also, I am not quite sure what is meant by 'multiple sources'. Data from different workspaces?

Hi @ebjim ,
I understood your ask now. I have reached the internal team for help regarding this. I will let you know if I get an update from them. Appreciate your patience.

@v-nikhilan-msft Thanks again.
