Hello! My team is looking to demo many of the tools and features of Fabric that are only available on F64 capacities. At the current F64 price point, we would like to be able to scale up to F64 to configure these tools, scale down to avoid costs (while continuing to configure other fabric items), and then scale backup to utilize the configured features in a demo.
We have found that this process is not reliable and can result in corruption of the F64 features like AI Skills. After configuring a skill on a F64, we will scale back down to a lower capacity and it will no longer work (which is expected). However, If we scale back up to the F64, the skill will not launch and receive the same error as we did on the lower capacity - even after waiting a hour and successfully accessing other F64 features like copilot.
Is anyone else coming across this issue?
Hi @bbyam
The considerations and limitations mentions that "Scaling up a capacity that’s smaller than F64 to a larger capacity happens almost immediately. The capacity license updates usually take up to a day, however some updates could take longer." Not sure if this is the cause. Since you are able to access other F64 features, the AI Skill feature should have been enabled too. Not sure if there is any potential corruption or misconfiguration during the scaling process.
Because AI Skill is still in preview stage, it has a lot to improve. I suggest you submit a support ticket to Microsoft to raise this issue for further research by engineers.
Meanwhile, if you don't want the AI skill feature becomes unavailable after scaling down and up, you could try setting up another F64 capacity for AI skill demos dedicatedly. Pause the capacity when it's not used to reduce the cost.
Best Regards,
Jing
