Delete multiple objects from workspace at once

Hi all,

I have to import a larger collection of Jupyter Notebooks (ipynb) in some frequency into a Fabric workspace. The old notebooks have to be replaced with the new ones.

What I am struggling with is, that using the UI, I can only delete one notebook at a time. Does someone have a good solution to delete multiple files in the workspace at once or has any information if this will be possible in the future?

My current workaround is to delete the notebooks in the GIT repository and then doing a resync, before importing again using the UI. I could not publish the Jupyter notebooks using GIT as they seem to be converted into a different structure and format by the import process...

Another approach would be to create a Powershell script to do the deletion and importing using the REST API...

Best regards,

Marc

Hi @gmarc
Thanks for using Fabric Community.
Currently we can delete only one item at a time in Fabric Workspaces. But folders in workspaces is an additional feature which is on roadmap. This would allow you to group all the old notebooks into one folder and you can delete the folder at once.

You can also submit a feature request to Microsoft Fabric team for bulk delete functionality in the UI.

I request you please share the feedback on our feedback channel . Which would be open for the user community to upvote & comment on. This allows our product teams to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and gives insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further queries.

Thank you for your response. I think organizing the workspace objects in folders will improve the experience in the UI a lot and should solve the above situation when publishing/replacing the notebooks to the workspace manually

Hi,

Folders have arrived. How can we delete folders? I don't see an option to do so. Thanks!

Hi,

Seems that as soon as there is at least one file in the folder, it is not possible to delete the folder anymore... only empty folders can be deleted. So the "folders feature" does currently not solve the issue reported in this thread
