Connecting ERP to Fabric

I am looking into leveraging Microsoft Fabric to rebuild my data infrastructure which currently involves migrating data from multiple ERPs into an on prem data warehouse. I am finding it difficult to achieve scalability and flexibility. Does anyone know if it is possible to ingest data from an ERP into a lakehouse using Fabric or ADF? If so, is this a feasible way to accomplish this transformation? My goal is to migrate towards a cloud based approach.

Hey @cannoli ,

there is a very short answer: yes, you can ingest data from an ERP to a lakehouse.

You can use the copy activity of a pipeline in combination with an on-premises data gateway, "copy" the data to the bronze layer of the lakehouse, then use notebooks (my recommendation) to "transform" the bronze data to silver. If you are not familiar with the medallion architecture this might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqTWFBzgAlg

Hopefully, this provides you with an idea of how to tackle your challenge.

Regards,

Tom
