The same report works well in our app after embedding if direct query is not used

HI @nitinkmishra,

Are you worked with publish to web feature to embed your report? As the document mentions, current it existed a limit when you use this feature with report include direct query model data source.

For detail information, you can check the official document limitations parts:

Hi,

No, I am not using that, I am embeding the report using access and embed token, for your company model. also,The javascript call is returning 403. Please be advised that its try to connect to Azure database . The issue started when one of tables were changed to direct query from import.

The power bi report is using gateway to connect.

Hi @nitinkmishra,

Did you mean to update the datasource connection mode without re-configug and embed the new version report?

If that is the case, the report data source and credential should match with the configured settings.

These internal credentials and configurations not match with the old version so embeded report not able to load data from report datasource.

Regards,

Xiaoxin Sheng

what do you mean by - update the datasource connection mode without re-configug ? can you point me to some documentation?

I never passed any credential or database connection mode in the previous version too,The one with import,

the app user principle is added to the allowed user.

HI @nitinkmishra,

They mean you are 'change on the underlying report dataset connection modes and not apply any update on the embedded report'.
AFAIK, the rest API to generated embed token are bind with the dataset and report.
When you update on the data source connection mode, the old version connection string and credentials of embed report should different form the report and they will cause the conflict between two version reports.(the prerequisite of power bi service refresh required the configured data source credentials is same to the published power bi report)
Regards,

Xiaoxin Sheng

How do I update the connection in the embed report? In other words, How do I apply this update on the embed report?

Also please be advised that we now only have one report with direct query.
