Our client wants to use on-prem data sources in Fabric Data Factory pipelines. We would like to use the Fabric On-Premises Data Gateway. However, we want to ensur that the data gateway uses their existing Express route circuit. How do we enusre that it does? We're trying to avoid having to use the ADF + SHIR kludge for ingesting data from on-prem into Fabric via pipelines.
TIA,
-Peter
Hi @PeterDaniels ,
Wanted to confirm with you: what is the specific reason you want to use your existing ExpressRoute line?
Specifically my understanding is that ExpressRoute is a service that provides a dedicated connection between your local network and Azure data centers, ensuring a secure and reliable connection. It is part of the Azure network architecture. And On-Premises Data Gateway in fabric is a different set of architecture.By default, the gateway uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3 to communicate with the service.

The client would like to use their express route circuit because they paid a lot of money for it and it should provide secure, fast communication with the Microsoft cloud. It's my understanding that Fabric resides in Azure, so why couldn't the on-prem data gateway utilize the express route for communication between Fabric data factory pipelines and their on prem resources?
