Dataflow without Lakehouse

I have created a dataflow without creating any lakehouse whatsover with the expectation that a stand-alone dataflow can exist in the workspace (as it currently can in Power BI). To my surprise, I am getting the following error

An external error occurred while refreshing the dataflow: DataflowLakehouseWasNotFound (Session ID: loremIpsum)

Is it possible for a dataflow to exist on its own without requiring a lakehouse?

Hi @smpa01

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Currently it is not possible to create a Dataflow Gen2 without a Lakehouse. The staging Lakehouse and Warehouse should be hidden and therefore not clutter your experience. Those Lakehouse and Warehouses are not mend to be used by end users and should be considered an implementation detail.

Thanks
