Can't export full .pbix + can't publish after live connection workaround
Can't export full .pbix + can't publish after live connection workaround Hi community, I've been running into a frustrating chain of issues over the past few days and wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing the same. Issue 1: Can no longer export .pbix with data I have reports that I've successfully downloaded as .pbix (full copy with data) many times before. Suddenly, I'm getting the error: "We couldn't export to .pbix format." The only download mode that works now is "A copy of the report with a live connection to the data online" — the full data export fails every time. For context: - The report was originally published from Power BI Desktop (not created in the Service) - Large dataset storage format is OFF - No incremental refresh configured - The tables are not large at all, so dataset size shouldn't be a factor - No deployment pipeline involved Issue 2: Can't publish after editing the live connection .pbix After making report edits in Desktop using the live connection file, I tried to publish back to the service and got this error: "An error occurred while attempting to publish 'Report Name.pbix': The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found." My questions 1. Is anyone else suddenly unable to export full .pbix files from reports they previously could download without issues? 2. Is there a known issue with the UK South region affecting exports and publishing? 3. Any workaround to publish a live connection .pbix back to the service? Thanks in advance, any help or confirmation that others are seeing this would be really useful!
Copying Power BI Dataset Use Case
Can someone provide some uses cases or why a developer would copy a dataset from one workspace to another? When a dataset is copied, is it duplicating the data or simply referenceing the original dataset? How does the copied dataset impact the connection to a Power BI Dataset? For example, If I copied a dataset from workspace 1 into workspace 2 and in the Power BI Desktop would like to connect to the Power BI dataset, would it show 2 versions of it? One in workspace 1 and another in workspace 2? And would it would it matter which one I connected to?
How to Add/change Deployment Pipeline's Admin in Power BI if not have access due to limitation
Quick Info : We have “Deployment Pipelines” in PowerBI which is the best way to use Workspace and content of power bi as Test Dev and PROD. More Info: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/deployment-pipelines-overview Currently, Deployment Pipeline has a Limitation where you cannot add/change the Pipeline assigned to the workspace if the user has not been given the rights on the pipeline. You should have Administrator Rights to run the Rest API for that workspace and azure directory ( Basically a Power BI Admin) Problem : Someone assigned the Workspace to his/her pipeline and left the organization. Did not add any other user/group to access the pipeline as per the recommendations. There is no way you can Assign yourself or your group to Pipeline and fix it.
Extract Task Flow as image for documentation purpose
How can I extract the Task Flow in a workspace as an image for documentation purposes or integrate it into Azure DevOps as readme? Additionally, I have already included detailed descriptions for each flow, and it would be cumbersome to retype this information. Does anyone have any suggestions, or are these just visual representations without functional utility?
Ability to customize default list view in Power BI Service (Workspace)
Hi, I reached out PBI support engineer (TrackingID#2401300040008357) and they confirmed it's not possible at the moment, they recommanded me to open an idea here. It would be very useful if we can change the default layout of the list view in the workpace. Here's a usecase : On the workspace home page, you see a list of objects in a list view. There's a column named "Refreshed" that shows last refreshed datetime and STATUS icon. As it is (in French), the default display format hides the status. It has a real impact on our business because we didn't notice that some dateflow failed to refresh, because there is no visual cues (we dont see the yellow triangle icon). (see attached screenshots) We know it's possible to manually resize the columns but because this manuals steps have to be done everytime we load the page, users stopped doing it. We were able to work around that issue by forcing the Microsoft Edge display language to English. But it's not ideal since many of our users don't speak english and this changes the browser language for all usage. N.B. Our monitors displays are set at 1920x1080. One of the following 2 features would be very helpful : 1. Ability to remove unused columns AND change the default size of the columns. 2. Hi there, I'm trying to report on all workspace's, DataSets associated to a datasource in our tenant. We setup an spn with Tenant.Read.All delegated api permissions. The Allow service principals to use Power BI APIs is enabled for the security group that the app is a member of.Created a client secret as well as certificate.We are able to connect using Connect-PowerBIServiceAccount to 'however no data is returned. When connecting using my account, i'm able to output the workspace that my account is a member of. So i'm not sure if im missing other permissions to the workspaces.
Go back to Pro capacity after using Fabric capacity
Last week i used the fabric trial. In workspace settings -> premium, i set up the fabric capacity (instead of pro) I had to make an azure trial account and made fabric capacity server there. Now my the trial of azure is finished ( I can not open any report) and i want to switch back to pro capacity in the workspace. The button for 'apply' is switched off. as shown in the picture below.. How can i fix this?
