upload error
13 TopicsError 409 - trying to update a report with power bi dataset connection
Hi, After reviewing the previous posts for this issue, i didnt find solution. I linkd reports to a one dataset that is a powerbi datased (i refresh it once a week approx.) and then the reports are updated. However if i'm trying to upload one report to the same workspace (after i added some fitures), i receive the 409 error. I managed to upload a new report with the "New" tab in the workspace but it doesnt over-write, hence it added anothe report so i have to give access again and delete the old one so there is no solution so far... In addition there is no possibility to upload the report via "Get Data" (because the dataset is a power bi dataset that is seperated from the report itself) as described in previous threads. any thougths how to solve it? Many thanks!1.2KViews0likes2CommentsUnable to upload .xlsm

Hello All! We have Power BI Server on premises (Jan 2021 version) that is connected with MSaaS database. Current problem that bothers me is that I cannot upload any files using Upload buttons that are over around 20MB (doesn't matter if it is report file or Excel file). I receive almost immediately pop-up "Sorry something went wrong. Try again". When I try to upload using Power BI Desktop app mostly it is going through, but heavy files (let's say over 200-300 MB) have same behaviour. It is trying to upload it, then saving window just disappear and file is never delivered to the server. I was trying to find it out in logs, but there is no log entry on that, while files uploaded to the server successfully login database onboarding and model creation entries. Cannot figure it out what it could be - file size limit is not the case here, it is set to 2GB, other settings seems to be good.Solved1.5KViews0likes3CommentsError while uploading file to Report Server

Hi, I'm having some issues uploading (any) reports from Power BI Desktop to Report Server. I get errors both when Saving As and when uploading from within Power BI itself. The errors I'm receiving are, respectively: Upload via Report Server: "There was an error uploading your .pbix file. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file." Save As via PBI Desktop: "An error occurred while attempting to save the report to Power BI Report Server" The versions I'm using are: Power BI Desktop (Optimised for Report Server): Version: 2.76.5678.1521 64-bit (January 2020) Power BI Report Server: Version 1.6.7364.4075 (January 2020) I have also tried the September 2019 version of Power BI Desktop and got the same issue. To keep the test as simple as possible and (hopefully) eliminate any issues with the report itself I've created a simple "Hello World" report (one text box with "Hello World" in and that is literally it). Any thoughts would be appreciated.Solved1.7KViews0likes1CommentCannot Save As/Upload PBIX to Report Server
Running Power BI Report Server Version 1.6.7364.4075 (January 2020) Running Power BI Desktop optimised for Report Server 2.76.5678.1521 64-bit (January 2020). Paginated Reports render fine, I can browser the RSPortal fine and I can use Report Builder fine. I have a test PBIX file with nothing but a Text box, cannot Save As to the Report Server within Power BI Desktop; produced error "An error occured while attempting to save the report to Power BI Report Server" If I save the PBIX to local file system and upload it directly through the RSPortal, I instead get the error "There was an error uploading your .pbix file. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.". Reopening the same file in Power BI Desktop is fine. The folder on the Report Server that the PBIX is being uploaded to has the appropriate permissions for the user/security principal Power BI Desktop is being run under and the user that is logged into RSPortal attempting the upload manually. PBIDesktop log does have a warning that is produced when attempting to save the PBIX to the Report Server (I've redacted some metadata): { "Action":"PBI.PQ.SaveDiscardInternal", "actionId":"SaveDocumentInternal", "entryPoint":"EditorRibbonButtonPowerBISharePublish", "errorCode":"UnprocessableEntity", "message":" at Microsoft.PowerBI.Client.Windows.SSRSService.SSRSPbixFile.<Save>d__26.MoveNext()\r\n--- End of stack trace from previous location where exception was thrown ---\r\n at System.Runtime.ExceptionServices.ExceptionDispatchInfo.Throw()\r\n at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.TaskAwaiter.HandleNonSuccessAndDebuggerNotification(Task task)\r\n at Microsoft.PowerBI.Client.Windows.Services.FileManager.<CopyTempToFile>d__27.MoveNext()\r\n--- End of stack trace from previous location where exception was thrown ---\r\n at System.Runtime.ExceptionServices.ExceptionDispatchInfo.Throw()\r\n at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.TaskAwaiter.HandleNonSuccessAndDebuggerNotification(Task task)\r\n at Microsoft.PowerBI.Client.Windows.Services.FileManager.<TrySaveBIPackage>d__22.MoveNext()" } RSPortal log on the server is empty. RSPowerBI, RSOffice, RSManagement, RSHostingService, ReportingServicesService logs show nothing of interest, just normal start-up entries. We have no side-by-side SSRS on the server instances. HTTP(S) bindings for Web Service and Web Portal have been redone. Report Server Service Account has been tried under Network Service and Virtual Service Account, problem exists with both.1.2KViews0likes2CommentsPower BI September 2019 Release Report Upload Problems

I am currently testing out the May 2019 version of Power BI Report Server and am encountering an issue when uploading CSVs via the SOAP API (using reportserice2010.asmx). We have a daily SSIS job that generates data and uploads the reults to Power BI Report Server using the CreateCatalogItem function to post a csv (converted into a binary stream) as a application/octet-stream MIME Type. This works fine on PBIRS August 2018 but with the May 2019 update the following error is returned: Uploading or saving files with .csv extension is not allowed. We've just installed March 2018 Power BI Report Server and dowloaded the matching desktop edtion, but get a correput / incompatible file error when trying to upload from power bi deskop to the report server. Initially I thought this may be a probelm due to having both versions on power bi desktop still on the same laptop? however I uninstalled everything and only re-installed the March 2018 version but the probelm still occours. I am able to run direct queries from the SQL database on the server so its not a connection probelm2.6KViews0likes5Comments
