Hi guys i understand the license of SQL Server ent core with an EA can be used to install Power BI Report Server. but my question is 1) can you use the same key on a spearate install on a different server 2) if not, can you install it on a current sql ent seever with other database already install or does it need to be separate and a fresh install. thank you as I can find that part of the documentation anywhere.Solved2KViews0likes5CommentsPower BI Premium and SQL Server Edition
If my client has purchased Power BI Premium and will be using Report Server. Does it matter which edition of SQL Server is used as the location of the Report Server's DB? Are there any features we'd miss out on, if I use SQL Standard Edition vs Enterprise Edition?Solved2.5KViews0likes3Commentspower BI report server licensing inquiry
Hello, all. I have a question regarding the report server and the licensing. I would appreciate if you can answer them. Q1) my company owns a SQL server 2104 Enterprise Edition and want to establish a PBIRS(Power BI Report Server). Do we need to buy additional license(pro, premium, etc) to operate the PBIRS? Q2) Can we manage the PBIRS and SQL server seperately? Thank you in advance. Randy Choi458Views0likes0CommentsPower BI Report Server - License
I need some clarification on Power BI Report Server licensing. We have SQL Enterprise + SA which allows us to obtain the license key (via VLSC) for Power BI Report Server. I would like to setup the following environment: Server A will only have the Report Server installed. Server B will have SQL backend to host the ReportServer database and temp database. Questions: Can Power BI Report Server (Server A) be installed on a server that does not have SQL Enterprise installed? Can the database backend (Server B) have SQL Standard?Solved1.3KViews0likes1CommentPBIRS License through SQL EE+SA [SQL EE & PBIRS in different server]
We have SQL server EE with SA. Currently we have one of the leading BI solution because when we started using it, PBI was only on cloud. Now we are in the process of evaluating an alternate solution for another set of users in our prganization; so, with the on-prem availability we felt PBI would be better option as it would come free along with SQL EE+SA All said and done, we are stuck because there are different understanding in our organization about powerBI licensing terms. Hence I would like to put my questions here to get better understanding. Please confirm: if both PowerBI and SQL server EE can be installed in 2 different physical servers with the same license; [Implicit information was available here] Once the above is confirmed use equal cores that is licensed for SQL server [for eg: if the SQL server EE+ SA license is 14 cores and powerBI can be configured with 14 cores ] ; [Found this; click here]; Please confirm If there are additional options and we have not considered it, please feel free to share them with us. We would be grateful and highly appreciate if we could get an accurate & explicit answer.1.7KViews0likes2Comments
