sorting columns
3 TopicsWhy does a sorting column affect DAX measures?
I have had this issue happen to me many times over the past few years and I don't understand it, so I was hoping someone else might! Let's say I have a table of student grades: StudentID Test Description Order Sort - From Sort Order Table 1 Test 1 Average 2 1 Test 2 Average 2 1 Test 2 Average 2 2 Test 1 Above Average 1 2 Test 2 Average 2 2 Test 3 Below Average 3 3 Test 1 Average 2 3 Test 2 Below Average 3 3 Test 3 Below Average 3 4 Test 1 Average 2 4 Test 2 Average 2 4 Test 3 Average 2 5 Test 1 Above Average 1 5 Test 2 Above Average 1 5 Test 3 Above Average 1 There is a relationship between the table above and this "Sort Order" table below: Description Order Sort Above Average 1 Average 2 Below Average 3 Next, I have some measures that calculate percentages that do not involve the "Order Sort" column at all. I have charts and matrices that utilize these measures. Everything looks great. However, if I then go into the data view of the first table, select the "Description" column, and sort by the "Order Sort" column, all of my percentages in my charts/matrices change, and they are all incorrect. I am going crazy and have given up on trying to sort since it ruins my measures!53Views0likes4CommentsHow to order slicer values by another column within each group of the current column
Hi everyone, I have a table that looks like this: WELL FORMATION DEPTH A B_top 1 A A_top 2 A C_top 3 B B_top 45 B A_top 48 B C_top 50 C B_top 101 C A_top 120 C C_top 135 In Power BI I want to build a slicer for FORMATION. The issue: the slicer always shows the formations alphabetically, but I want them ordered by their depth within each well. I tried creating a Formation_Order column using RANKX, but Power BI gives the error "There can’t be more than one value in Formation_Order for the same value in FORMATION" (because the same formation appears in multiple wells at different depths). What’s the correct way to set up a slicer that respects the per-well depth order? Do I need to build a separate dimension table for slicer values, with WELL + FORMATION combined, and then sort by depth? Or is there a simpler trick to achieve this? Thanks a lot for your help!1.2KViews0likes3CommentsUnable to Sort Column in Correct Order
Hello there, I have some body metrics taken every week. I am trying to create dashboard in Power BI. I created a matrix added parameters in Rows and Dates in Column, Corresponding values in Values. But the Dates inserted in the column section are sorted in a random way I unable to sort them.Solved464Views0likes1Comment
