Hi all, When using the preview feature refresh mlv activity in the pipeline, is do have some major bugs. After saving, it goes back to default, the pipeline does not want to refresh after, and I cannot parametrize it. Is there any workarround, and is this a known bug? Cause this is not workable.335Views0likes9CommentsHow can AI agents improve Microsoft Fabric Data Factory pipeline automation?
I am exploring how AI agents can help make data pipeline development and monitoring more efficient in Microsoft Fabric Data Factory. Some potential use cases: Automatically creating pipeline workflows based on business requirements Detecting pipeline failures and suggesting fixes Optimizing data movement and transformation steps Monitoring data quality and identifying anomalies Triggering automated actions through APIs or external tools I would like to understand how teams are currently combining AI agents with Fabric Data Factory. Are you using: AI-assisted pipeline generation? Automated error analysis and recovery workflows? Fabric notebooks with AI models for data operations? Custom agents connected with Data Factory pipelines? Would appreciate insights, real-world examples, or architecture patterns from developers working with Fabric Data Factory automation.Solved65Views0likes3CommentsSAP ECC into a Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse using Fabric Data Factory.
We are currently extracting data from SAP ECC into a Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse using Fabric Data Factory. *SAP ECC side:* We are using the SAP .NET Connector (NCo), which communicates with SAP through RFC calls. *Fabric side:* We are using the SAP Table – Application Server connector, which leverages the Open Data Gateway (ODG) to retrieve data from SAP ECC. *Small tables:* Data extraction and loading work successfully with relatively small SAP tables. *Large tables:* When extracting larger tables, the process fails with a "Not enough space" error. *Partitioning / Chunking:* We have tried the partitioning and RFC table options available in the Fabric connector to split large-table extraction into smaller chunks/batches based on indexed fields. *Performance issue:* Although chunking allows us to process the data, the resulting throughput is very low, and extracting large tables takes an excessive amount of time. *Key Challenge* We need to identify a scalable and performant approach for extracting large SAP ECC tables into Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, while avoiding the "Not enough space" error and significantly improving extraction throughput. In particular, we need to determine whether the bottleneck is related to SAP RFC/NCo processing, Open Data Gateway, Fabric's SAP Table connector, partitioning strategy, batch size, or the underlying data transfer mechanism, and what configuration or architecture would provide better performance for large-volume SAP extractions.Solved82Views0likes5Comments[BUG] Dataflow Gen2 destination picker 404 — api.powerbi.com lakehouses UK region
Hi community, We have a complete blocker with Dataflow Gen2 (CI/CD) destination configuration in our UK-region Fabric tenant. The Error: When clicking "Add default destination" and selecting a Fabric Lakehouse from the OneLake catalog, this error fires immediately for ALL users including the workspace Admin: DataSource.Error: Downstream service call to url 'https://api.powerbi.com/v1/workspaces/{WORKSPACE_ID}/lakehouses' failed with status code 404. (Region: uk) The Lakehouse IS visible in the OneLake catalog — it appears in the picker. The 404 fires the moment it is clicked. Root cause hypothesis: The destination picker calls the legacy Power BI REST API: api.powerbi.com/v1/workspaces/{id}/lakehouses ← returns 404 For Fabric-native workspaces in the UK region, the correct endpoint should be: api.fabric.microsoft.com/v1/workspaces/{id}/lakehouses The OneLake catalog listing (which uses a different path) resolves the lakehouse correctly — it's only the destination configuration call that uses the wrong endpoint. Workarounds attempted — all failed: 1. UI — Admin user attempted same steps → same 404 2. queryMetadata.json via Git — Added destination fields, pushed to prod branch → Fabric silently strips loadEnabled/destination on every sync, creating a permanent conflict loop (workspace ≠ Git on every update) 3. Authentication methods — Before the error began firing immediately, a "Connect to default data destination" screen appeared offering two authentication options for the Lakehouse connection: - Organizational account (Sahil Singh / user account) - Service principal Both were attempted. Neither succeeded — the 404 followed in both cases. Subsequently, this connection credentials screen stopped appearing altogether. The 404 now fires immediately upon clicking lh_dhl_prod in the OneLake catalog, before the connection setup dialog is even shown. This regression suggests the failure point has moved earlier in the destination configuration flow. Questions: 1. Is this a known issue for UK-region tenants? 2. Is there a way to configure the Dataflow Gen2 destination via Fabric REST API directly to bypass the broken UI? 3. Are there other file-based approaches (mashup.pq metadata) for CI/CD Dataflow Gen2 destinations? Happy to provide Session IDs and further details to the Fabric team. Hi all, I have an issue with my SQL Server / Azure SQL Database extraction. As you can see I connected to my source using a VNET gateway, and I do see the preview data. This table contains 37 rows but when I try to run the copy activity in my pipeline or a simple copy job, is do get the error: ErrorCode=LakehouseOperationFailed,'Type=Microsoft.DataTransfer.Common.Shared.HybridDeliveryException,Message=Lakehouse operation failed for: Operation returned an invalid status code 'InternalServerError'. Workspace: 'xxxxx'. Path: 'xxxxx/Tables/dbo'. Message: 'Internal Server Error'. TimeStamp: 'Thu, 07 May 2026 06:39:40 GMT'..,Source=Microsoft.DataTransfer.ClientLibrary,''Type=Microsoft.Azure.Storage.Data.Models.ErrorSchemaException,Message=Operation returned an invalid status code 'InternalServerError',Source=Microsoft.DataTransfer.ClientLibrary,' I've tried different lakehouses as destenation, new pipeline, run with query, write as parquet, all the simple stuff, but I still got this message. Is there something I don't get? Hope someone could help me out.1.5KViews0likes8CommentsMicrosoft Fabric - Edit the Connection Properties
Hi Team, I am using the Microsoft Fabric and created the on Premise Gateway and created the ODBC connections which are used in the pipelines. Now my On Premise Gateway and ODBC DSN has changed. So I want to Edit my existing connection to repoint my ODBC DSN & On Premise Gateway. But in connection level there is no option to edit these properties. Its allowing only to edit the Username & Password. Can you please confirm, any other way to change the existing connection or only option is create a new connection and all the pipeline level need to point my new connection. Hi Fellow Fabricators, This one gave me a nasty headache, so I'm posting here to help others with the same issue. Error code: 20302 Failure type: User configuration issue Details Dataflow refresh job failed with status: Failed. Failure reason: { requestId: [guid], errorCode: 105004, message: . Learn more at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2314100 } Error Link: Troubleshoot connectors - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn The error code Troubleshoot guide is generic and the failure reason message is missing. High-level config details DataflowGen2 (CI/CD): public parameters mode enabled runs successfully when (using "current value" in parameters) executed manually (save, run & close) refreshed (manually) from UI run fails when called from a dataflow activity in a data pipeline, and pipeline passes 3 dynamic parameters into dataflow MICROSOFT RESOURCES Dataflow Gen2 CI/CD - in GA May 2025 Deployment Pipeline Parameters are supported Data Pipelines: Dataflow Activity supports Dataflow Gen2 CI/CD Passing parameters into a Dataflow Gen2 CI/CD from a Data Pipeline activity is supported: and referenced thus "When selecting a Dataflow Gen2 with CI/CD that has the public parameters mode enabled, a Dataflow parameters section is displayed which lists all the available parameters, their types, and default values for the selected Dataflow." SOLUTION After a lot of config tweaking to identify the root cause, it was a simple data typing issue (of course!!). Parameters in data pipeline items must be strongly typed - mine were of type [String] The DFG2 parameters were of type Any - this is usually really forgiving. By changing the data type of all parameters in DFG2 to [Text] the DPL activity ran perfectly. NOTES: The error could be much more meaningful - and indeed the documentation should be updated to make this data type match requirement clear. Dataflows and Data Pipelines have different development stories: Dataflows have evolved considerably since their origin in Excel Power Query (aka Data Explorer) Fabric data pipelines began life in Azure Data Factory - with some Azure Synapse pipeline DNA. It is clear that these Fabric items are still not fully consistent - not least because types String and Text are not interchangeable/identical at a technical level 😛Solved2.1KViews0likes2CommentsAdd New Column with Dynamic content in Copy Activity
Hi everyone! I'm facing a challenge in a copy activity of my pipeline. Context: I have a pipeline that makes api calls. The apis use something like the following format /api/emails/{email_id)/forms. In order to be able to reach the "forms" part, I have first made a Copy activity for /api/emails and stored the results in a lakehouse table. Then I added a lookup activity that extracts the distinct email_ids and feeds them in a for each loop. Inside ForEach there is another copy activity that utilizes each time the relevant email_id to create the respective relative url (eg. @concat('/api/emails/', item().email_id, '/forms') and proceed with the call. And this works fine. However the response from @concat('/api/emails/', item().email_id, '/forms') does not have email_id as a property. So basically if I just land the resutls in a table I will not know to which email_id each result is linked to. So my goal is in the final table to have the api's original response columns AND the email_id that will be properly generated in each loop. In the Mapping configuration of the copy activity I tried adding a new column to utilize the item().email_id but dynamic content doesn't seem to work. I also tried to make the change via View->Edit JSON code or add the column in the Source configuration "Addiotional Columns", but the first one didn't work and the second one seems to expect a list, not a single value. FYI the api's response is in json format. Has anyone come across to something similar? And if yes how did you proceed? I'll be very gratefull for your input! Thank you in advance, RafaelaSolved1.3KViews0likes3CommentsHow to fully load data once and then incrementally update with yesterday’s data in Dataflow Gen2?
Hi all, I'm new to Dataflow Gen2 and exploring it to centralize data transformations for Power BI reporting. I’m using F2 capacity and pulling data from multiple sources like SQL Server, Salesforce, and Microsoft Business Central. While building the dataflows, I didn’t define any explicit output data destination (bottom left panel in the dataflow UI). But I noticed that files like “StagingLakehouseForDataflows_...” are automatically getting created in my workspace under type “Lakehouse” or “Warehouse”. What exactly are these files? Is it okay to leave the output destination undefined if I can still see the tables and use them in Power BI? Incremental Refresh Doubts: I tried setting up incremental refresh on one of the queries (Currency Exchange Rate). This table has three columns: Currency Code Starting Date Currency Exchange Rate There’s historical data available from 2020 onwards. Since the exchange rates update daily, my goal is to: Load the full historical dataset initially Then, refresh only yesterday’s data daily (i.e., append new records to the existing dataset) So I used these settings in Incremental Refresh: Date column: Starting Date Extract data from the past: 1 day Bucket size: Day But after enabling and running the refresh, I noticed that only records with yesterday’s date were loaded — the older data (from 2020 onwards) wasn't loaded at all. What I need: I want the dataflow to load the entire dataset initially, and then on each scheduled refresh, only add new records from yesterday (without removing the older ones). How can I properly configure incremental refresh to support this pattern in Dataflow Gen2? Thanks in advance for any help or clarification!Solved4.7KViews0likes4CommentsWhen to Use Pre-Copy Script vs. Source Query in Copy Activity?
Hello everyone, I’m trying to get a better understanding of the Pre-Copy Script option in Microsoft Fabric's Copy Activity. Given that we already have the option to use a query to pull data from the source, I’m curious about the specific situations where the Pre-Copy Script comes in handy. Is it generally an either/or choice between using a query and a pre-copy script, or are there scenarios where it makes sense to use both within the same activity? If anyone here actively uses the Pre-Copy Script, I’d love to hear about your experiences and the types of use cases where it’s proven helpful. Thanks in advance!Solved4.9KViews1like4Comments
