PBIRS September 2026 update error - Attempted to read or write protected memory
Trying to update a PBIRS installation from January 2026 to September 2026 and getting an error during the update. The setup log contains the following message: Something went wrong, please find details in setup logs.CallStack: Unhandled Exception: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. at System.Management.IWbemServices.DeleteInstance_(String strObjectPath, Int32 lFlags, IWbemContext pCtx, IntPtr ppCallResult) at System.Management.ManagementObject.Delete(DeleteOptions options) at Microsoft.BIServer.SetupUtils.WmiUtil.RemoveWmiRegistration(String instanceName) at Microsoft.BIServer.Setup.SetupPrepareStep.Install() at SetupEngine.Install() at SetupEngine.Execute() at Microsoft.BIServer.Setup.Setup.Main(String cmdLine) This is occurring on more than one server.
