I created a data table so my visuals will sort properly, but it appears about 239 of the answers are unique in such a way its causing the selection to sort by not to work. When I check the data I can see all the unique free text answers result in a null value for the sort order, so the error message makes sense im trying to rack my brain how to best fix this I know I could replace the Answers with a numeric number to force them in a specific order but that seems like a chest, is there a way to make this work?Solved1.6KViews0likes7Comments
Log run status in SQL table
Hi, We have a lot of Powerbi dashboards on RS at my workplace. The problem is some of them might fail and we can't go through every single one of them everyday to check if the refresh was running fine. So we want to keep track of the running status, such as xxx time, was the run a fail/success and the error message by writing them into a SQL server table. Is this possible to have a centralized place to keep track of all dashboard status? I know in powerquery we might write data back into SQL, but it can't tell if the run was a success/failure.514Views0likes1Comment
Question on Backward Compatibility for Report Server
Hello - I initially created some reporting with the latest version of Power BI Desktop and then after deployment of Report Server, tried to deploy there and discovered the issue where an older version of Desktop was needed for deployment to Report Server. This led to me needing to recreate my report in the older version of Desktop, as several report components did not work in the older version of Desktop. My concern is; if I now create the report in the older version of Desktop and deploy to the server, what happens when PBIRS is upgraded and Desktop is upgraded as well? Will I have the same issue? Or is PBIRS backward compatible to reporting created with all previous versions of Desktop?Solved1.1KViews0likes1Comment
Modifiable table for contributor to add the data
Hi I have a usecase that user would like to modify the data in a table view then these modification will save to the database. It would be a table in report and user can choose from a dropdown list to select the correct value if the display info is incorrect. It's kind like an excel table. Hope I clear enough. Upload button on web portal vs. 'saving as' on server option in Power BI Desktop for RS
Hi, I'm a bit confused, what are the differences between the two options of uploading reports on a server ? 1) Using the "upload" button directely in the webportal, and upload a .pbix file. 2) Use Power BI Desktop for RS with an user account that has credential for the server, and "save as" ?
