Hi, The new visual calculations in DAX (preview feature) were advertised as bringing improvement to the performance since the calculation happens on the visual only, not on the whole model. Yet every test I did trying to replace my slow measure with visual calculation result in even slower performance. Did you notice the same?Solved1KViews0likes2CommentsPreview Features not showing in the options menu (PowerBI Desktop, January 2023)
Hi everyone, i have been trying to use some of the new preview features but I can´t see any "Preview Feature" within the Options Menu: In older community posts I have read that preview features are not available for PowerBI Desktop (we are using the version for the PBI report server). Is this still the case? Is there any official document regarding this? Hi, We upgraded our PBI Report Server today as we'd read that the January 2021 release would resolve the issues around scheduled refreshes when metadata preview feature is ticked. Errors usually look something like: [0] -1056505856: COM error: Microsoft.PowerBI.ReportServer.ASEngineManagedRoot, Datasource **Data source** is not found.. After the update and also installing PBI Desktop for Jan 2021 RS, PBI's that we upload to the report server still aren't refreshing, and getting similar errors to previous. We've reverted back to uploading PBI's with the preview feature unticked again. Has anybody else had the same issue? It was my understanding that the latest update would have fixed this issue. Thanks.Solved2.9KViews0likes7CommentsPreview Feature in Desktop for RS Oct 2020 enabled by default
The preview feature regarding enhanced metadata has caused a lot of issues in the October version: Power BI Report Server October 2020 update has bee... Several colleagues are asking how a preview feature can be turned on by default, like: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Report-Server/Power-BI-Report-Server-October-2020-update-has-been-released/m-p/1514253/highlight/true#M16885 https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Report-Server/Power-BI-Report-Server-October-2020-update-has-been-released/m-p/1520720/highlight/true#M16932 https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Report-Server/Power-BI-Report-Server-October-2020-update-has-been-released/m-p/1533773/highlight/true#M17049 I agree with them: if it is turned on by default, it is not a preview feature. Now I'm missing an answer on the question how this will look like in the next version(s). Is the behaviour of the October version seen as a bug and will be reverted in January? Thanks for a comment from Microsoft Regards MichaelSolved3.8KViews2likes5Comments
