Has anyone here started off with Power BI Report Server but has now decided to switch over to Power BI Premium because of the breadth of new features Microsoft is offering with it, especially in the past year or so and what's planned for the future. For my company, PBIRS was an easy first step as we had an SQL Server Enterprise license and it essentially came free with it. We run PBIRS as primarily the visualization layer with SSAS/SSIS/SQL Server forming the backend infrastructure. However, now with all the new features being introduced in PBI Premium and not in PBIRS, I'm starting to think it would be a good idea to move to PBI Premium. I do need justify the potential additional costs though so trying to get a sense of how to go about it. Is there a good feature showcase video/blog post that would cover all the goodness of premium and appeal to C-level execs? Has anyone taken that leap and can share their experience? Are there any downsides to moving to PBI Premium? There isn't a trial option so has anyone followed any other approach to try things out before purchasing premium? Any inputs, thoughts will be much appreciated and I'm sure will help others who might be thinking of making the switch too. Thanks in advance!Solved1.2KViews0likes2CommentsHow do I get Paginated Reports to work if I currently have the free version of Report Server?
Hi, It seems almost impossible to find much information on this specific question. My company currently has the free version of Report Server, I have downloaded the Report Builder application but have realised that I need to connect to a Dataset on the Report Server. Currently I don't seem to have this option and I am wondering if the barrier is due to an Admin option which needs selecting or if, as is explained in multiple articles for Paginated Reports for Power BI Service, we need to purchase a 'Premium' Report Server capacity to have the capability to run Paginated Reports on Report Server? Many Thanks in advance.655Views0likes1CommentPurchasing Premium Capacity
We are currently in the process of purchasing a P2 premium capacity. Before we submit the purchase order we want to make sure we have budgeted for everything we need. Out with the cost for premium and whatever number of Pro license we need to develop and publish content, is there anything else we should be aware of that will incur a financial outlay that needs budget for?479Views0likes0Comments
