power bi report server configuration
8 TopicsIs running the PBI Report Server with a gMSA supported?
I currently have a Power BI Report Server running with a domain account and using kerberos to access other SQL Servers and SSAS. I'm now trying a new install using a gMSA (group managed service account) as the Service Account running the PBIRS. I have verified that the SPNs and delegations correspond to our running servers and they "look" correct. However, whenever I try to access a report using Windows Auth for the data source, we get the dreaded "We couldn't connect to the Analysis Services server. Make sure you've entered the connection string correctly." Is this a supported scenario, PBIRS using gMSA and kerberos to connect to other SQL Servers? In the documentation at Configure the Report Server Service Account (Configuration Manager) - SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) | Microsoft Docs (which is referenced from Install Power BI Report Server - Power BI | Microsoft Docs), it does not specifically call out gMSA as an option for the Service Account. Are others running in this scenario? Any tips, suggested documentation, etc? Thanks so very much for any pointers/advice! This wasn't easy the first 2 times and continues to be a challenge. 🤔 janice5.8KViews0likes3CommentsMove the server hosting PBIRS to another domain
Greetings. I am in a scenario where servers are being migrated from domainA of Company A to domainB of Company B due to a merger. I wanted to know about any problems that I might face when rejoining the VM hosting the Report Server to domainB in terms of licenses or configuration. Will I have to create the environment from scratch or will I have to make only tweaks to the configuration? Any guidelines for such activity would be appreciated. The current Report Server is using license from SQL Server Enterprise with SA. In the May (then with the July mini update) and with the September update, I'm seeing slow loading of SSRS Reports. Mainly, when Managing, the Subscriptions and the Parameters, but also just loading the page. I seems to be the Website in a sleep mode and its waking up. For most Website, with IIS, you can set the Interval to be always on. With Power Bi Report Server, I don't know if thats set in some config file, registry, or not possible. All of the subsciptions go out on time, but its after an hour or so, it take a while to get a report to load. Once one report loads, all the reports load quickly so its not not one report in particular. I have not tried a PBI report to seee if it load right off or not.5.8KViews1like4CommentsPower BI Report Server September 2019 French multiple issues
Hi, We have Power BI Report Server, may 2019, French version, SQL Server 2017 up to date (CU16). We decide to install latest version : Framework .NET 4.8 and Power BI Report Server ( setup 15.0.1102.646, October 25 2019). Multiple issues occurred with existing Power BI Reports with accents (é, ê...) in the name. First issue: The record can not be download : the name is not correct and begin with "=_utf-8_B_dGFibGVhdSBkZSBib3JkIGTDqXRlcm1pbmF0aW9uIGdyb3VwZSBzYW5ndWluLnBiaXg=_=', without ".pbix" extension. This issue does not occur with report without accent in the name. Second issue : the datasource connexion string is empty. The source is Analysis Services. The installation process work fine, no message on screen and in the log file. Regards, Denis1.3KViews0likes3CommentsHow to change the MaxFileSizeMb from 1000 to 2000 in Power BI Report Server
There are some customers in my company that wants to change this configuration and honestly i dont know where is it in Power BI. Previously in SSRS versions we used to connect via SSMS in Report Services instance and under the server properties we could change that. This is specified in the blog below: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/sqlrsteamblog/2016/05/05/setting-a-maximum-file-size-in-sql-server-... However, this is for SSRS but not in PBIRS. Anyone, know where and how can i change that in Power BI Report Server? It can be using GUI or even in the config file. Many Thx.2.6KViews0likes1CommentService unavailable error message after opening the report on https powerbi URL
