Hi, I need to set up a parameter. I've been following the instructions in this article, but it doesn't cover parameters. In Report Builder, I have connected to the data source which is a dataset in a Power BI Service workspace. In Desktop I built a table visual then copied the DAX from performance analyser. In Report Builder, I created a dataset using the copied DAX. The issue is I cannot get a Parameter set up in Report Builder. I have created the parameter p_Shift under Parameters and chosen the relevant field 'Site'[Site Code] from the dataset. In the dataset under the Parameters tab, I have added the created parameter. I know the the third step is to go back to the query tab and add a clause to match the field to the paramter. In SQL this would be WHERE 'Site'[Site Code] = (@p_Shift) . But I can't find information to say what it sould be in DAX, or where in the query to place the clause. Thank you430Views0likes0CommentsAPI Create/Edit and manage suscriptions

Hello, I am trying to create a paginated report where trying to show Region,State and Sales as per below screenshot. Every state can have multiple sales and I want to populate sum(sales) at lowest level. I am using expression as =sum(Fields!Sales.Value) for sales column . However, Data doesnot aggregate at state level. It returns table as input file while running the report. Could anyone please guide me ? Thanks, KPSolved4.4KViews0likes6CommentsFilter by Top N in Power BI report Builder
I'm trying to build a report using Power BI report builder, but I'm struggling to sort tables and graphs and filter them by Top N. I have tried doing this using Tablix Properties filters and sorting as shown in the pictures below. The output only shows 7 categories.8.6KViews0likes2CommentsMigrate Cognos to Paginated Report (on-prem)
The organization is a Cognos shop and in the process to migrate reports to Paginated Report (SSRS) or Power BI reports. I have to migrate a Cognos ‘Performance Report’ into Power BI Report Server (on-prem) Paginated Report (also referred to as SSRS) and would use the Microsoft Report Builder tool. The Cognos report used a star-schema Framework Manager semantic layer consisted of 1 fact (summarized), 2 Dims and couple common Dims (Date, Region). Report contains Crosstab, Bar/Line chart and List table for each performance indicator; there are about 10 indicators. For each indictor, there are 3 query subjects; each for Crosstab, Bar/Line chart and List table. If you are familiar with Cognos, we can generate the SQL from each query subject to use in SSMS to view the same data results but it is very unfriendly SQL. There are at least 30 query subjects for the entire report. Azure subscription is in the works (for sure with Power BI Premium) – hopefully, we would have the environment in 4-6 months. Migration thoughts … Use the Cognos generated SQL to create dataset for each of the key performance indicator > Matrix, Bar/Line and Tablix in the Paginated Report. This would be bad choice as it would be a nightmare to maintain the very unfriendly SQL in the migrated report (updated at least 2-3 times per year due to new requirements) and there would at least 30 datasets. Create Tabular Model consisting of 1 fact (summarized), 2 Dims and couple common Dims (Date, Region) for the report. What would happen when it is time to move the Paginated Report on-prem to Azure? Does the Tabular Model become a DataSet? I would very appreciate your sharing and recommendation what do most work through to migrate Cognos reports to Paginated Report (on-prem) and subsequent to Azure. Thank you in advance.1.6KViews0likes2CommentsLoading Data Faster Report Builder
I am not sure I am psoting this is the correct place - this is for PAGINATED REPORT BUILDER I am having some struggles with the data tables/views that my company is having built. First they load Nulls in fields instead of a zero or blank. Best way to build a view for fast access? Paginated report builder does not like this (have to handle these differently). Next is my Paginated reports take a long time to load up the cascading parameters, especially when using views. We are not talking millions of records here, less than 250,000 and sometimes less than 50,000. Any suggestions on what to do to improve table speed and builds for faster data retrieval? Or refer to someone who can help me?Solved1.3KViews0likes1CommentPBI RS (May 2021) report URLs changing or changed & Email subscription links (paginated reports)
I had a user point out that the url link that PBI RS inserts at the bottom of an email body does not take them to the report, but rather a variation of the reports' url resulting in a "Not Found HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found." error. In looking at the issue closer I found that after upgrading report server to May 2021 version that report urls are changing when the report is accessed. Once the report is accessed by a user, the reports' url is getting "/report/" added to the url. This is where the "Include Link" function for paginated report subscriptions breaks for users. This is new behavior to me, I need to resolve it. Please help.Solved4.6KViews0likes11CommentsSearch Box parameter for Paginated Report
Hello, I am trying to add a parameter to my report that will allow me to type in anything and then pass that value to a Path Contains filter condition to narrow down the results to only show values where what I typed is present. Is this possible?7.5KViews1like3Comments
