on-premises gateway
5 TopicsPower BI Refresh Frequency
I hope to display my Power BI report on a screen and refresh it very frequently (e.g. every 5 mins). My report connects to the SQL Server Database (on-premises gateway, "Import" method) and my account is with a Pro license (I do not plan to upgrade to Premium), I'm currently refresh my report 8 times per day. I heard different opinions, some say even the premium lisence can only refresh 48 times per day, some say the "Automatic Page Refresh" enables refreshing at every 1 second (refrence: Real-Time Analytics in Power BI (analytics8.com)). Can Power BI achieve a real-time refreshing with Pro lisence? Thank you in advance!2KViews0likes3CommentsOn-premises data gateway and New Connection Help!
Good evening, First, let me apologize for the ignorance of my question, but I am at a loss now. Also, I apologize for the length of the post; I want to provide as much helpful information to the community as possible. I am hoping for your assistance. The situation...I have a database file that I have connected to my Power BI desktop app through the use of the ODBC driver. The dataset connects perfectly with no issues, and I use "Windows Credentials" to finish the connection. As you might have guessed, I want to auto-refresh this data to my Power BI app. In order to do this, I have installed and am running the On-Premises data gateway(Not personal). The gateway is up and running, and when I visit my workspace, where I have published the report/dataset I can clearly see the correct data gateway running, but the dataset (the SQLite file) is not correctly configured. I then click on the "add to gateway" button, next to the dataset, to create a new connection between this dataset and the on-premises gateway. I added a connection name, the connect type is correct, "ODBC", the connection string looks correct, and then I selected Authentication Method windows. Here is where I run into issues. For the life of me, I cannot figure out what credentials to use, and I have tried everything. When I first establish the connection in my Power BI desktop, I choose "Use Window Credentials" to connect to the ODBC dataset. Whatever I try, I keep seeing the error invalid credentials. I am figuring I am missing something, or I have not set up some sort of username/password for the dataset, but I would love the help of this community. What am I missing or what credentials should I be using? Thank you577Views0likes0CommentsError: Couldn't load the data for this visual
It is a weird problem and it shows up recently. Suddenly nearly all of my reports could not display visuals correctly. The error message is given below. Couldn't retrieve the data for this visual. Please try again later. Please try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details. Activity ID: 91b2103e-ff11-40de-946d-6cc4f44a2397 Request ID: ceedea02-60ce-4c7f-eca4-d36cdc88e071 Correlation ID: 8f0db4eb-476c-8e46-ae73-edec429fae81 Time: Tue May 03 2022 10:03:10 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time) Service version: 13.0.18173.56 Client version: 2204.4.11089-train Cluster URI: https://wabi-canada-central-redirect.analysis.windows.net My data sources mainly include three parts: SQL Server, Sharepoint files, Web. Since something in common with the problematic visuals is that they are have measures from tables in these Sharepoint files, I doubt that the connection between the Sharepoint and On-premises gateway is down. But everything works fine on my pbix file. I reinstalled the gateway yesterday. It works last day but today it again throws me these errors. I've read some posts, but I am not sure which problem and solution applies to my case. By the way several days ago, I noticed the error message below, informing me that there's no available gateway. Could it be that I am using the files extracting from sharepoint, but after merging them within the Power Query editor, Power Bi service is unable to identify them? Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.Solved4KViews0likes2CommentsPassword protected Access Database - Gateway error
Hi all, I am fairly new to Power BI. I have an access database which is password protected. From my Power BI Desktop, I am able to successfully connect to it through OLE DB driver (Thanks to reference). Now, I have published the report online and trying to schedule a refresh for this database through an on-premises gateway (reference) located in the server. I tried choosing couple of Authentication Methods and still hitting the following roadblocks. Windows - OLEDB driver does not support this authentication method Anonymous Any leads would be appreciated, thanks in advance.Solved2KViews0likes3Comments
