Hi, We have an ScaleOUT deployment balanced by Citrix. After start PowerBI windows service works fine for about 2-4 hours. For different reports different users receive error: "An unexpected error occurred. Please try again later. Please try again later or contact support. I receive that error few times a day. Could any one say what have i to check? We have last update for PBI server. I tried to change ModelExpirationMinutes from 60 to 120 and tried change to 5. At the moment we have 60 Yesterday we changed session persistence on citrix and after that faces that we have that error message rather rare. But issue is not fully solved by that change. Previous week i tried to restart PBI service every hour by task scheduler and zero such errors faced.1.5KViews0likes3Comments"An error has occured" when clicking on report (On Prem)

Hi, We are just about to embark on our PowerBI journey after doing some preliminary POC demos late last year. Since we already use SSRS quite a bit, one question we are trying to get clarity on is what are the main differences between deploying PowerBI reports on-prem vs pushing them to the cloud (costs aside)? Are there any key functionality drawbacks for either option? Is on-prem just a 'temporary' solution to use as a stepping stone to get us into the cloud as an end-game? - edit 2018/01/23: Also, can we run Report Server without purchasing Power BI Premium? I understand that with Premium the Report Server in included, but I am assuming we can licence Report Server on it's own (if we don't also get it included with either our SSRS or other corporate Microsoft licencing)? Are BI Pro licences for content producers sufficient (with others that will only be consumers having just 'regular' Power BI licences) -/edit 2018/01/23 Any feedback is welcome and appreciated! Thank you!53KViews0likes17CommentsRLS In PowerBi On Prem
Hello, Attempting to Move a report I made onto PowerBi on Prem as we have ent sql licences. In my report I use RLS which works fine when published to PowerBi Website but on Prem I cant see any menu option for adding users to the role etc. My connection is to a SQL server and the method is Import (same as on the website). Does On Prem not support RLS in PowerBi? If so thats shockingly poor, hoping I am wrong on this. Mark6KViews2likes5CommentsSalesforce Refresh
I have a Salesforce object report in Power BI Report Server. Currently I get this message when I try to configure refresh "This data source does not currently support scheduled data refresh." That's not entirely helpful and I'd like to know why it doesn't support scheduled refresh, if there are any plans for it in the future and if anyone has any workarounds. Currently I'm refreshing every day myself in desktop and reuploading it but that's not a good solution. Thanks.Solved5.3KViews0likes4CommentsGetting an access token to an on-premise installation of Power BI Reporting Server
I am trying to move reports from a SSRS installation to Power BI. I am able to get the reports moved over to the Power BI server; however, the Data Sources are not completely migrating over. This is acceptable if the Data Sources can be updated through the Api. There a small number of Reports to move and all of the reports will use a even smaller handful of Shared DataSources. During the migration the Data Source name is kept but the credential information in it needs to be updated. The hope is through V2 Api I can sign in and update these Data Sources with the correct credentials. I do notice that during my migration that the name of the Shared Data Source is retained in the migration. At the end of the day, I have to hand this migration tool off to put the reports into production. This may not be the best place for this question, but I had to start somewhere.945Views1like0CommentsHow to scale out Power BI Report Server?
Hi, How can I scale out Power BI Report Server? I am running an instance on a VM and have added 8 cores to the instance but Report Server is still only running off one of the cores with no performance boost. What am I missing? Do I need to change something in the .config files? thanks, MattSolved11KViews0likes4CommentsPower BI Embedded and Stored Procedure parameter passing
Hello everyone, this is my first post, so I hope I am posting in the correct part of the forum. I have been searching for an answer for this question but so far I haven't found an answer. At the moment my company is evaluating the possibility of changing some solutions to Power BI. We access most of our information through Stored Procedures from SQL Server, which receive parameters in order to give dynamic results, this is required because we have a KPI engine inside our database which calculates them on-the-fly. At the moment we use Tableau embedded inside our Web Application, but Tableau has big performance issues with Stored Procedures, and we were looking at Power BI if it could be the alternative that could solve our performance issues, but from what I could find, at the moment Power BI is not able to receive parameters via URL and pass them to a Stored Procedure, correct? Also we require it to be On-Premises.2.5KViews1like1Comment
