10 TopicsDrill Through Like a Boss: Advanced Techniques to Elevate Your Reports
Drillthrough is a great way to provide autonomy to the viewer - allowing them to choose the level of detail they want to see, while keeping your main report clean and uncluttered. This presentation will demonstrate some of my favorite techniques for expanding the typical uses of drillthrough, and making the technique more intuitive to the viewer, including: -Improved drillthrough via tooltips -Drillthrough on images -Creation of dedicated multi-state drillthrough buttons -Creation of dynamic drillthrough button text -DAX-controlled conditional drillthrough -Conditional formatting driven by drillthrough selection -Advanced drillthrough on spatial data The meeting will start at 5.30pm with refreshments. The presentation will start shortly after 6pm. ***LOCATION*** We'll be meeting on the ground floor of the Baker Tilly offices in Madison: 4807 Innovate Ln, Madison, WI 53707. This is where we met in June. It's on the far east side - exit the interstate on US-151 towards Sun Prairie, then exit on American Parkway. Take the first left onto Eastpark Blvd. The Baker Tilly building is 2 buildings after Cambria Suites on Eastpark Blvd. Enter through the main entrance at the front of the building - doors are locked but we'll have someone to let you in and they'll be a phone number to call if you arrive later. Hi Team , We are using Power BI Report builder for designing the paginated reports and finally we render it using the PDF format in our respective application . We have one specific requirement where we have one icon in the first page and on click of the same , it has to navigate to last section of the report . We tried using the bookmarks and since bookmarks doesnt render in the PDF format , we are not able to achieve this particular requirement . Hence request the team to suggest some solution through which we can achieve this particular requirement. Thanks for the support !! I would like to suggest adding the option to conditional format column headers in matrix and table visuals as hyperlinks to enable quickly navigating to a web URL or a page within the report. For example, I have a report page that acts as a heat map with various columns show the health of each client (rows) in each of the various categories (columns). Subsequent pages in the report provide more detailed metrics and information for each of the corresponding columns on the heat map. I want to make it so the user can click the heat map column header and be redirected to the corresponding details page in the report. This is one of many instances where being able to conditional format a column header with an action or hyperlink would be helpful. For the above example, I do have a workaround in place, using "invivisible" action buttons, however these do not move with the headers in the event we need to scroll to the left or right in the matrix or table visual so I am limited to only showing the number of columns that can fit in the view without scrolling left to right.1.3KViews2likes0CommentsA measure to navigate to another page based on the value in slicer
Hey there, So I have a slicer on the "summary" page: The thing is, is that every project in this slicer has its own respective page in the report, and the user wants to: - select a project in the slicer - Press the button: And to navigate to the project's page in the report. I know there is a function (fx) option to assign an action to the button. But I need a hand with writing a DAX code so whenever a specific project is selected in the slicer, the button on the right redirects it there.1.5KViews0likes1CommentNavigate pages through table cell values
Hi, I have a table in which rows have the names of my dashboard pages. I want to have the ability to click on a cell and based on the cell value it should navigate to the page. For example On clicking on any value in the Indicator column, I want to naviagate to corresponding page. Is this possible? Please help. ThanksExit from a mobile report
Hi, I'm using the Mobile App to connect to a PBI Report Server on premises. I don't see a possibility to exit from a report. When connecting to the Service, there is a little arrow that opens a navigation list. When connecting to the RS on prem, this arrow is missing. The only way to exit is to shut down the app or to use the back button several / many times (since this navigates through the whole page history until it exits the app. Is it a bug or a feature that this navigation list is missing? ( in case someone wants to suggest the Mobile Apps subforum: I tried it already, and I found the same question from someone, posted 2019 - in both cases someone answered that there should be the arrow opening the navigation list, but it is not there ... https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Mobile-Apps/Navigate-back-to-start-exit-a-report/td-p/2100794 https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Mobile-Apps/power-bi-mobile-app-exit-button-from-the-report/m-p/869497#M5218 ) Thanks and Regards Michael5.6KViews1like12CommentsFiltering by user, is it possible with the bookmarks?
I've created a report that has different final viewers. For it I've used the RLS, and it works for the data. But the report has a page of navigation buttons in which I've used bookmarks. So, I would like to avoid that some users could see certains options (buttons). Is it possible? How could I achieved anything like that? Working on a report concept that begins with an initial user landing page. This is a report that multiple departments would use so the first choice made is to select the market. The user selects the market and clicks on the icon and through the use of a page navigation button is taken to the first detail page. So, for example, if the first market selected is agricultural then the user is transported to the detail page that shows only agricultural data. The detail page is hard coded with a page filter. This approach has a drawback as it multiples the number of detail pages required. For example, 4 markets and 4 detail pages result in a total of 16 pages. All of the detail pages are the same with the only variable being the market filter. Since the pages are all the same, I want only four pages (no page filters). For this report, there would be no selection criteria slicer for the user to manipulate. I want them to simply click the market icon and the detail page is dynamically filtered based on the market selected. Each button would act like a macro that has a list of instructions, which in this case would be the page filters. Is something like this even possible in Powerbi?1.5KViews0likes2CommentsExtend Navigation to support permissions
It would be great if we could use row-level security to control who has access to the left navigation or to control what navigation items show up. There are workarounds: Custom navigation using buttons. Overlay to hide reports (might work if security is not a concern). Multiple Power BI applications each with different navigation. All of the workarounds have drawbacks, using permissions would be much more elegant.4.5KViews0likes1Comment
