Hi, I have one SSAS tabular model running on two servers. On one server (call that server 1) the model loads using full-load without an error. On the other server (call this server 2) the SAME model fails on full-load with memory failure. This server (server 2) has way much more memory configured at server level and sql-server level then the server 1. The data is loaded from the same database tables, so the source of the models on both servers is the same. All ssas parameters are the same, the versions are the same. Software version on both servers : SSAS version 15.0.35.51 SQL Server version 15.0.4440.1 Why does the loading fail on server 2 and not on server 1 ? Hi, I am analyzing why my SSAS server is consume a lot of memory sometimes what i can see it is not when the model is processing. I have run the dmv Memory usage to find what in SSAS service is take all the memory, and we talk about 115GB memory. My model is only 6GB when loaded in memory. The result of running memory usage can you see below. The what i can see from it, it is the OBJECT ID Big and Small the consume all the memory togeheter. So my question is, what is that? And how can i reduce the consume of memory?1.1KViews0likes2CommentsPower BI Server May 2022 - High memory usage on msmdsrv.exe
Hey all, We had the issues with the Jan release, where the CPU was causing issues, and upgraded to May on the weekend. This morning, I came in and found the memory for msmdsrv.exe using 300+gb of RAM, plus the same in virtual memory, and using everything the server had - not leaving any memory for the database service etc. I know it probably comes down to poor models from my team, but is there any way of limiting the amount of RAM available to the service in the config? There looks to be some guidence from Microsoft on this for Analysis Service, but I want to make sure it's the same guidence for Power BI Report Server, and which settings would be recommended to set.Solved7.7KViews0likes2CommentsMemory blow out importing Excel/XML files
Hi I have a Windows Server 2016 Std with 8 cores / 32GB in Azure. It's only job is to run my on-premises data gateway. I have 1 report that uses imported Excel & XML formatted files extensively, however the total size of all those files (only 21 files) is only around 5MB. I know compression plays a part but we are still not talking about billions of rows or columns.... maybe around 50k rows in total with about 25 columns - most data is from drop down lists so is quite repetitive. The data gateway is crashing with out of memory exceptions. Watching it as this specific report refreshes, the service blows out to 31GB of memory, then this: Faulting application name: Microsoft.PowerBI.EnterpriseGateway.exe, version: 3000.162.10.0, time stamp: 0xcc25b00a Faulting module name: clr.dll, version: 4.8.4614.0, time stamp: 0x63995bc5 Exception code: 0xc00000fd Fault offset: 0x000000000003c844 Faulting process id: 0x1ac8 Faulting application start time: 0x01d94bc496309199 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\On-premises data gateway\Microsoft.PowerBI.EnterpriseGateway.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\clr.dll Report Id: 589e3650-fc43-4e19-a082-8fd9eeb542c2 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Yes the report does a fair bit of data manipulation but still... I don't duplicate tables and have only a couple of merges. I can also successfully refresh the report on my lowly Intel i5 12GB laptop running Win10 using the exact same files as input so figure something odd is going on if a more efficient server with 3x RAM cannot do this. Can anyone suggest some tricks or what limits I can be aware of in order to ensure I keep this report under relative memory control?Solved1.6KViews0likes1CommentComo monitorar o Power BI Report Server
When a power bi report is deployed to report server it can be refreshed on a certain schedule But where is the in memory power bi model loaded ? I tried to analyze report server memory usage when activating report and not much happened on server Then i saw the browser increasing memroy on client - is the load mostly on the client ? But there has to be a tabular in memory model somewhere ?Solved1.3KViews0likes1CommentHigh CPU Usage on Power BI RS (On premise)
Hello guys, I have a question about Power BI Reporting Services (On Premise) One of the users posted a report that, when this report starts to update the data, consumes 100% cpu and 90% memory. Is there any way to know which report is this? So that I can guide you how to schedule the update And how to limit the use of cpu and memory in the service? Or even by report? regards,11KViews0likes12CommentsReport Server Memory Management
Hi folks I'm using Power Bi Report Server on perm (August 2018) Evaluation mode and have some issues about memory management. We've created some reports ( mostly are live connections to SSAS and a few direct connections to a data source ). Our server has about 80 gigabytes of ram with 8 cores CPUs. The issue is after a few days, we see lots of processes in task management taken lots of memory shown as ReportingService.exe. Every process has its own PID. And when we stop the report server, all processes kill immediately advocating all of them are related to the main process ( power bi report server hosting ). Is there any way to limit the maximum memory allocation to report server?4.1KViews0likes1CommentSchedule Refresh - memory
Hi all, if i use a schedule refresh on a report which takes 15 min to refresh and have 40Mega, are affected somehow the resources available for a regular license? i'm asking because i don't want to exceed a limit or something like that and i can reload manually and upload after that as an alternative. Hello! Roughly nine or so months ago, upgraded from using an older SSRS system to using Power BI Report Server. currently use PBIRS for on-premis data reporting. We have several pagenated reports with subscriptions that we used thorughout the years and are now beginning to make use of Power BI reports as well. Many of my reports connect to either SQL or Oracle databases and run stored procedures to get the data. I have figured out how to get Data Refresh working for my reports and it works very well. However, soon after I learned how to build Power BI reports and set up auto refresh, our subscriptions stopped sending out one day. The SSRS database would claim the subscriptions have been sent but the emails never were actually sent out. I restarted the Power BI service on our vm server and the subscriptions automatically started running again. Upon much investigation and monitoring using Performance Monitor on our server, I noticed that after each scheduled refresh of my power bi reports that several Microsoft.Mashup.Container.NetFX40 processes would start running. Then after these processes are complete, the page file would settle down with usage slightly higher than previously. This process repeats itself many times and after about 3 days or so, the page file would be completely full and I would have to restart the Power BI Report Server service. This would release the pagefile memory until it would get used up again. I came accross this issue where someone had a similar problem. The fix is to restrict data preview from downloading data in the background of each Power BI Report. I have attempted to integrate this fix but it does not reslove my issue. I am a bit at a loss of what to do. Any extra insight would be greatly appreciated!2.3KViews0likes3Comments
