Hello, I am trying to troubleshoot a PowerBI report server issue for my clients. : An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. I am not finding any connection failures, timeouts or low disk space on the servers. In this setup we have two Power BI Report Server instances that are scaled out. Both are version 15.0.1102.235. For the backend we have two SQL 2016 instances at the latest CU. The ReportServer Databases are in a High-Availability group. The PowerBI service account is a gMSA account. This same account is used as the database credential. Report server is also configured to use RSWindowsNegotiate. It has been noticed that if we create a refresh plan while the Database Listener is pointing to Node 1 it works fine for the client. However if it is failed over to Node 2 the client as well as myself as an admin get an error. I used RedGate compare to confirm that Node 1 and Node 2 are identical. I then went ahead and enabled Verbose logging on the report server and started a SQL Server Profiler Trace for the backend. Hello, I have two servers connecting to the same On Premises Gateway Cluster using the same service account. This being in the same cluster, I tried running some tests to see how cluster will behave when one of the servers goes down. For continuity (High availability) sake I want to take all steps that will make sure PowerBI Reports won't fail even if one of the gateway servers goes down. I have following two questions: 1. How to force Secondary Gateway Server to be Primary? I tried "Migrate, restore, or take over", this option is not always available when I shut down service/server on Primary end. It was available only once when I shut down Primary. After that I tried to reproduce the scenario again but it didn't work. 2. How to automate the entire High Availability? If Primary Goes down, how do we make secondary to be primary automatically without manual intervention. Is there a possibility of having two application servers for high availability reasons on the Report Server? For cases that need to do maintenance on the server or even if there is a problem the whole service is not down. thanks!Solved948Views0likes2Comments
