Hi, I found issues with connecting Micsrosft SQL Server with Power BI. I do not have any experience in such connections, so I am blindly doing different steps but I simply don't uderstand what I am doing, hence I am not able to know what's going wrong. So, I read I need gateway installed, and I did. Install an on-premises data gateway | Microsoft Learn Then I set up gateway name and key based on another article. And then, what's next? I found this article Add or remove a gateway data source - Power BI | Microsoft Learn but I am unable to folllow steps, I can't find setting button. Do I need any additional version or access to be able to complete this? I tried to put in Power Bi credintials that theye were given to me around the server, but no luck with any connections. Instead of Server name, I have Port number, but I reckon this is the same. I put passowrd and user's name into Power BI server query, but I encounter error message, hence I think this gateway needs some further steps I haven't completed yet? Thanks!3.2KViews0likes14CommentsIs this a bug? SEARCH box not starting from current folder... instead starting from ROOT/Home
I'm not sure if there's just a configuration that needs to be set. The Search box for PBIRS is searching from Root/Home and not on from the current folder location and traverse down. Some users don't have "Browser Role" on Home but only has browser role in subfolders. How do you configure the SEARCH functionality to start from the current location and cascade down to its subfolders? Users are getting user permission issue because the search function is starting at HOME and it doesn't have the role set at that level. Please help... thanks.Solved633Views0likes1CommentReport Server Power BI

Hi, I guess I have a problem with the Publisher role in Power BI Report Server. The documentation from MSFT said that: -> Publisher role needs a additional Server role to set up a scheduele refresh, so far so good. But I tested this with some Users and every User is able to set up a scheduele refresh for his own report. This must mean that every user is in the Server Admin role because only the Server Admin should be able to do this. I checked the permissons in the security settings in the SQL DB Reporting Service and the Server User have no such permission enabled. So my question is: Does that mean that every Publisher is out of the box enabled to set up thoose scheduel refreshs for there reports? Because otherwise I couldn't see the point were I'am able to disable this feature If I want to. Also no Publisher is able to delete a refresh from another Publisher only his own report schedueles. have anyone succesfully make these two work together. what i have achieved now is: i can successfully connect powerbi desktop to dynamics 365 on-premise, and develop reports. (oauth enabled) but if i upload the pbi file to power bi report server. data cant be refreshed. this is frustrating. i can see the reason why coz currently power bi report server only supports web data source with Windows NTLM authentication and basic authentication. OAuth+organization authentication isnt supported. any thoughts on this? thanks.Solved3.5KViews0likes5CommentsCLIENT who launched the report LOCALTIME

Hello, Does Power BI Reporting Server offer any support for maps when the report users are cut off from the internet? PBIRS is an on-prem solution and some on-prem report users do not have access to the internet. I understand that SSRS has offline map functionality through shapefiles. Does Power BI RS have a similar functionality? If not, what other options are available? Thanks7.1KViews1like2Comments
