A challenge faced by Power BI Admins is how-to monitor & troubleshoot multiple on-premises Data Gateway Clusters. With each cluster having multiple servers that are responsible for connecting their data sources to the Power BI service in the cloud, investigating errors or performance issues across the gateway logs can become a complex task. This presentation aims to show a solution to help Power BI admins to: • Quickly access all gateway logs • Explore the gateway logs to get insights to help you take the most out of your Power BI gatewaysGateway Unreachable

Can't find an answer to this elsewhere, so trying here: We have four Power BI Gateway servers set up in a cluster however it looks like there is one server that doesn't have any refresh jobs sent to it. It doesn't produce any logs and its memory activity is low when compared with the other gateway servers. As far as I can see it has not been set up any differently to any of the other servers. Its status is showing as Online and the "Distribute requests across all active gateways" box is ticked. Has anyone come across this before?Solved672Views0likes2CommentsUsername and Password not working to connect Gateway
We have a PowerBI gateway to Databricks that username and password stopped working in the beginning of October. We have tried multiple users with access, and verified passwords have not expired, and we are getting: "PowerBI: [Microsoft][ThriftExtention](8) Authentication/authorization error occured. Error details: Bad status with no error message: Unauthorized/Forbinne: Status Code: 403" These same accounts are able to use access keys from Databricks to connect the gateway, but not username and password. All these accounts have full access to the Connector, PowerBI and Databricks. Some people with similar issues said to reenter credentials, this has not worked and we cannot use credentials at all... Only Access Token. Anyone input would be appreciated.1.3KViews2likes8Comments2 Gateways, one Fabric warehouse
Hi Everyone, I have a problem with reports. From what I know, I can only use 1 on-premises gateway in 1 dataset in PBI. Understood. But having MS Fabric, can I pull the data from 2 different gateways to store it in Fabric data warehouse? In this DWH, I already have data from server A, but when trying to access server B, I get such error message: Can you please help me to solve this? From what I know, I need to have different gateways on these 2 servers, right? I need to combine data from server A and B, have relations set in PBI model and allow these reports to refresh automatically. Seems very strange for me that I cannot combine 2 different data sources into data warehouse, since it is one of the principal ideas of DWH - to combine data from different sources. Any ideas? What's important. The credentials I use for accessing this 2nd server via Fabric DataflowGen2 are the same as I use in MSSQL to pull data manually from server. And in MSSQL, it works just fine. Also, when creating PBI dataset that contains data only from this Gateway (server), I can set refresh as well. But I need to combine data from 2 gateways, and here's the problem. Many thanks in advance for any help!Solved1.8KViews0likes4CommentsPower BI Gateway installation failing due to an error
Hi there, i am trying to install the gateway on my system and getting an error as Error 1335: The cabinet file 'media1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. I tried downloading the file again and see if that solves this.Solved2.1KViews0likes4CommentsError connecting Postgres with Gateway
I can connect Power BI Desktop to a local Postgres server, so I published a Power BI report and tried to set up a connection on Power BI Cloud with my local gateway that can access Postgres. If I try to update the semantic model, I receive this error: Errore dell'origine dati: [ValidateMarkupTags]{"error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError","pbi.error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError","parameters":{},"details":[{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorCode","detail":{"type":1,"value":"-2147467259"}},{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorMessage","detail":{"type":1,"value":"[ccon]Installare Npgsql versione 4.0.16.0</ip> o precedente.[/ccon]"}},{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult","detail":{"type":1,"value":"-2147467259"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ErrorCode","detail":{"type":1,"value":"10305"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.DataSourceKind","detail":{"type":1,"value":"PostgreSQL"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.DataSourcePath","detail":{"type":1,"value":"[ccon][ccon]<ip>192.168.0.12</ip>[/ccon]<ip><ip>192.168.0.0</ip></ip>;val_fKOANemvfL[/ccon]"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Reason","detail":{"type":1,"value":"DataSource.MissingClientLibrary"}}],"exceptionCulprit":1}}} Table: prodotto. My gateway is okay because I use it to access Excel files that are on the local network in other Power BI reports. Sorry if my English is not correct.Solved3.5KViews0likes3Commentson-premise Error for Redshift sources
Hello everyone, I have 2 VMs with on-premises clustered in Azure: these two gateways allow me to retrieve several data sources (SQL/Redshift/PostgreSQL). Since last week I can't retrieve Redshift sources: both gateways are partially online with a DLL error on GW number 2. I've updated, deleted and reinstalled the on-premise, tried to deactivate GW number 2 from the cluster but to no avail: the DLL indicated is indeed present in the right place on the VM. Azure Cloud 2: Received error payload from gateway service with ID 344420: ODBC: <ccon>ERROR [IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126: The specified module could not be found. (Simba Amazon Redshift ODBC Driver New, C:\Program Files\On-premises data gateway\m\ODBC Drivers\New\AmazonRedshift\AmazonRedshiftODBC_sb64.dll).</ccon>. The last solution would be to remove the GWs and reinstall an older version of on-premise, or to completely reinstall the VMs, but cel ame seems extreme. If you have any ideas, thank you.Solved1.2KViews0likes3Comments
