I'm using Power BI Report Server and the latest Power BI Desktop for Report Server. I'd like to import data from an online Excel sheet. This sheet will be updated by multiple people. Tried Excel (just brings up desktop file browser) and Sharepoint folder (tried a few options and got either errors or just a file list). Thank you for your help.Solved1.3KViews0likes2CommentsPBIRS 9/21 - Download button hidden on Excel sheets when UsePortalV2 is turned on
I upgraded to the 9/21 release the other day and noticed that the buttons to download or edit Excel sheets are now hidden. I used the inspector in my browser and the buttons show up in the HTML, but they are styled to be "hidden" in CSS. If I turn UsePortalV2 off, the buttons come back, but I'm also back in the old Portal UI. Is there some way to unhide those buttons in the PortalV2? We have several Excel files that were uploaded directly to PBIRS. We aren't seeing these users accessing the files in ExecutionLog3, but we are pretty sure people are accessing them. 1) Is it expected that we wouldn't see them in ExecutionLog3? 2) Are there logs in OOS that would show users accessing them there?Solved848Views0likes1Commentexcel services access to external ODC files stored on PBIRS
I have Excel files stored on PBIRS along with their external .odc files. I have worked out how to construct and add URLs pointing to these .odc files on the PBIRS (using the new REST service /Resource endpoints). This works fine when the Excel file is opened on a local workstation. However, when the Excel file is opened in the PBIRS itself via OOS, we get an error about need a license to access .odc file. It is not clear if this is the real error. The question is: is there something we can do to allow Excel Services to access the .odc files via http on the PBIRS?1.9KViews0likes3CommentsExcel online on OOS server, excel renders but is unable to change slicers.
