Thanks to Microsoft for providing the View Functions feature — it’s really useful. Similarly, is there a way to automatically capture data source details such as the connected server and the queries used? I’d like to store all this information in a table for easy reference.Solved2KViews0likes5CommentsDuplicates streaming dataset
Hi Team, In streaming dataset whenever I push a data that is already present in the dataset (duplicate), the row is getting deleted or hidden. But the same is visible when I try to show a sum or functions like that. Is there any documentation on how the duplicates are handled in the streaming/push datasets or the logic ? Also if I wish to have the duplicates is there anay way to do so ? Expecting a reply. Thanks636Views0likes1CommentRS May 2020 - requirements
Microsoft please can you fix your download page AND confirm that there has been no change to system requirements for Power BI Report Server. It looks like there is a problem with the System Requirment content for the May 2020 release. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56722 The page claims that only Server 2016/2019 and Windows 10 are supported BUT There is no mention of the change in change log https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/changelog There is no change / mention in Hardware / Software requirements page https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/system-requirements The Desktop only download states the origianl requirements. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56723561Views0likes0CommentsReport Server Vs Power BI Service in terms of data security
Hi All, Can anyone please explain some of the pros and cons in terms of Data security which is good to use Power BI service or Power BI report server. If i have very confidential data and i need to use Import mode to connect to data source. 1. Will Power BI report server provide more data security than Power BI service? If yes, what are the pros and cons for using Power BI report server in terms of data security? 2. Will Power BI service be suitable for deployment of reports which are created using import mode with very confidential data. If yes, what are the pros and cons for using Power BI service in terms of data security? 3. and also if someone can highlight the major differences between Power BI report server and Power BI service in terms of Data security. I know i should not use import mode in this case but i have to use import mode. Please let me know if you need more clarification on above points. Thank you for the help and support. Before beginning, we very much appreciate your work on PowerBI Report Server. It is an amazing product which has consistently been of a very high quality. As developers ourselves, we have no issues whatsoever with the slow release cycle (and in fact appreciate and even prefer it!) but the lack of knowledge on what features will (if ever) be released and when is maddening. When new features are mentioned on PowerBI Report Server or PowerBI Desktop releases, it is vey rarely clear which features will make it into PowerBI Report Server (for non PBIRS desktop releases), which features will work with Custom Authentication, and whether API's have been added yet or are planned for service and Report Server features. For instance, when adding RLS for PowerBI Report Server, the fact that it works for Custom Authentication had to be discovered in the comments and forum posts (and, with due respect to the MIcrosoft Team, in the official documentation) is dissappointing. And despite this feature being documented here, the documentation is woeful regarding compatibility, for instance composite models do not even mention PowerBI Report Server at all, leaving its compatibility completely ambiguous. In monthly PowerBI Desktop Releases, however, it is always completely up in the air whether a feature will or will not make it to PowerBI Report Server. Every release, there is a massive amount of comments asking if any particualr feature will or will not make it to Report Server. The most specific information we usually get is one or two specific features officially documented, and a general statement on "most visual features" or "most modelling features" making it to PowerBI Report Server. Unfortunately, the comments section has been where we have been able to gather nearly all information on what features will and will not make it to PowerBI Report Server. While we very much appreciate the strength of will of delving into the comments section, we feel that the effort would be better spent documenting, for each feature: Whether a feature is currently planned on being compatible with PowerBI Report Server Whether a feature is still under consideration Whether a feature is compatible with with Custom Authentication, and if so how (if appropriate) Whether a feature will work with Direct Query/Live Connection (if appropriate) Whether a modelling feature will support RLS Whether (or rather when, given the shared technology) a Modelling feature will make it to Azure Analysis Services Whether (or rather when, given the shared technology) a Modelling feature will make it to SQL Server Analysis Services When the API's for the feature will be exposed in PowerBI Report Server (RLS I am looking at you), and if they exist then a link to documentation Whether an API for the feature will be exposed in PowerBI Service, and if it exists then a link to documentation In summary, the issue is the lack of consistent standards in documentation, including in official documentation. For instance, the aforementioned composite models documentation should establish a standard similar to SQL Documentation, with a list of products at the top (Desktop, Service, Report Server (and version)), and a series of ticks and crosses indicating compatibility. In addition, it would mention if RLS would work, and if so how it would work with the various data sources. Apologies for the long post, it is hoped that it does not come off too critical.1.2KViews1like2CommentsChangelog for the Version 1.1.6551.5155
Hello, can someone please write down the changelog for the Version 1.1.6551.5155 that was released yesterday (11.Dec.2017)? So far, the last one I found documented (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/changelog) is the Version 1.1.6530.30789 (Build 14.0.600.437), Released: November 17, 2017 I mean, I saw you solved the bug for the font color for some links when uploading a branding package, but what else? :smileyhappy: Great job guys!
