Cloud and desktop version showing different results
Hello everyone, I hope I got the right forum... and I also hope someone can help me to understand where the problem lies. On my MySQL database I have one table GoalsTarget with these values: Name|Target milestone Goal 1 | MS01 Goal 2 | MS01 Goal 3 | MS03 Then I have anothe table GoalsForecast with these values: Name|Forecast milestone Goal 1 | MS01 Goal 2 | MS02 Goal 3 | MS05 Then I have a view v_results that gives an overview on which goal will reach the target ("1" is "Yes", "0" is "No", of course) Name|Forecast|Target|Meet Goal 1 | MS01 | MS01 | 1 Goal 2 | MS01 | MS02 | 0 Goal 3 | MS03 | MS05 | 0 If I pull these data on pbi desktop, everything works fine (the "T" is the equivalent of the "Meet" column, i.e. if "Forecast" = "Target"). I then publish it on the cloud, and everything is still fine. When the scheduled refresh kicks in, I have always "0". If I pull the data from the desktop at the same time, the data are still fine. I really don't know where the problem could lie... any suggestion?
Unable to Refresh desktop after updating PBI
Two of my reports won't refresh at all, and a third has a completely blank report, although the data is there in the data tab. My fellow developer has not updated and he has no problems. The reports on the service are refreshing just fine. If I refresh individual tables, they're fine, but when I hit refresh at the top it all fails. I have uninstall and reinstalled Power BI.
Preventing Server Report from being opened in Desktop
When you publish a report on the server, there is an option towards the top of the page that allows people with more than just viewer rights to open the report in desktop. Is there a way to publish a report without allowing this to happen? Take away the option to open in desktop. I am not a full admin but I have rights to publish reports in the server and add users, refresh schedule times, etc. ThanksReport can't find previously working data source (insists on gateway even though cloud source)
I connect to my work network from home via "cognitas crosslink" VPN. My directquery SQL server data source for a particular report can not be reached over the VPN from power bi desktop. (I'm looking in to fixing that.... But that's not my issue I'm posting about) The power bi web server however CAN see the data source. So, I can live with this, by only editing the report when I am on the physical work LAN, and publishing from the work LAN. Again, the report can be viewed in power bi online both at home and at work (and, for example, via mobile phone... So normally no problem with the data source via the report server normally) Regrettably, yesterday I made a change to the report while at home, where the data source couldn't be reached, and then published the report. My thinking was that the report server has its own route to the data source so everything would be ok: however the report is now broken with red warning at top of page "There is no gateway to access the data source [XYZ]" Other reports with same data source work fine. A brand new report with same data source works fine (I.e. built today trying to diagnose problem). I tried completely removing and re-adding the data source and removing all credentials but get the same error. It is as if it has cached a route based on my home network via crosslink, interpreted that as needing a gateway to be added, and is now no longer "trying fresh" to reach the data source? The broken state is saved in the report somehow? Possible contributing factor: the reason for the change I wanted to publish, was I had accidentally imported a small excel table and forgot to turn off refreshing. So the web server was failing to refresh based on that fact. But now it's failing to refresh the main data source (only other source, as described above)PBIRS + ADFS (form) not working from PBI Desktop
Hi, part of my tests, my Power BI Report server edition will be behind a WAP server my users are authenticated using ADFS + form based authentication this is working fine when I access PBIRS using a browser. but if I try to edit a report from Power BI Desktop, I cant connect to my PBIRS. I have to save locally, go on the web site and upload my PBIX file is there a work around? this will be supported? or not at all? thanks.
Compatability issues Reporting Server August vs November 2018 Update
Help. I have written a 45 page PBI desktop report. I started the work in the "normal" October desktop version and it was compatible with August 2018 Desktop reporting Server version and we uploaded it onto the client site, all good. Went back to do some tidying up additional pages but I did that in November 2018 "Normal" Desktop version. Now the August 2018 for reporting server won't even open the Desktop file and hence I can't uplod it, I have the option to go back and repeat the tidying up in the August file (About a Day's work) or find a way to make them compatible. I have tried deleting all the additional visualisations (in case of version number) I have tried saving the template file and the August 2018 Desktop for Reporting Server wont open that I have tried turning off all the preview features in the Nov version, saving, rebooting- Nope Any more options? Do they publish a list of compatibility issues anywhere? Does anyone know what specifically causes the compatability issues between the two and is there an easy fix? Is there anything else I can turn off/change in the Nov version to make it compatible with the Aug version Is there any part of the PBIX file Zip file that covers measures and page layout that I can swap out between the files ? Self inflicted pain but thoughts welcome. Of course if they were just compatible it would make life easy for those of us who try to use it.
