Composite model view access
Hi, I know there have been a lot of posts on this issue but I can't anything beyond the steps I've already taken for my specific scenario. We have a published custom calendar dataset (1), a published CRM dataset (2) and a published internal sales system dataset (3) The custom calendar dataset (1) is linked to the CRM dataset (2) to create a new dataset (4) That new dataset (4) is combined with the internal sales system dataset (3) and some measures are created in a final composite model (5) That final composite model (5) is used to create a report. That works fine in the desktop app and fine for me to view on the service. All the datasets are published to the same workspace. But another user gets the message that the visualisation can't be displayed as they don't have access to the underlying dataset. It gives them an option to request build permissions on the dataset. The user has read, reshare and build permissions for all 5 datasets (with read and reshare permissions for the actual report) Anyone have any idea what could be the issue?
Can't connect to Data Source (the source is a dataset on Power BI Service)
Hello! I have the following situation: I have an uploaded dataset on Power BI Service, which I use for my report. I create the report in Power BI Desktop, using the connection to this dataset, everything works fine. Then I uploade that report to Power BI Report Server. But when I open the report on Report Server, I see the error: This is my string connection on Data Source tab, the string was created automatically by Power BI Report Server. I've tried to test connection with the same credentials I use for Power BI Service, but the connection failed also: Could you please tell what could be the problem? The credetials are correct. Is it possible that the string generated by Report Server is wrong? Does Report Server support datasets from Power BI Service? (PS. I have Power BI Service PRO license).
My dashboard frozen / not updating live streaming data
Hello Experts, I'm new to PowerBI , I have a strange behaviour with my dashoard . I am showing the live streaming of the data using dataset and REST calls. Now values were getting updated every one second , then I shared my dashboard in the Microsoft Teams via a link , then onwards I have a problem , KPI values that I have shared in the dashboard are frozen / hardly updating values . I tried to see all the optimization no info are avaiable , and i'm not an expert of tool PLease help
RLS Issue with shared dataset
Hi everyone, I'm having an issue due to implemmenting the RLS in one of my datasets. I have the "A" Dataset, published in the "1A" workspace. The access for this "1A" workspace is exclusive for me the admin and the directors board. Here we have all the datasets that we have in our PBI enviroment. From this workspace, we share the datasets to different workspaces. We have a workspace for every department in our company (Sales, accounting, marketing, logistics, etc.) When I start the RLS in the "A" Dataset, 3 roles where created, and I assigned an email with pro license for every role. But, after publishing this dataset to the "1A" workspace, the other workspaces cannot see any data from any dashboard connnected to that shared dataset. Me as the owner of the dataset and PBI admin, don't have any trouble looking the data, and if I enter to the other workspaces, I can see all the data in the dashboards created from the shared dataset without any problem. I was looking for a solution here in the forum, and one was to share the access to the workspace "1A" to the user, bur I can't do that due to all the datasets with confidential information are in this workspace, with viewer access they can see al the dashboards and datasets of this workspace, but they still can't see the information in their reports. But if I gave them member access, then they can see the data as normal. Please, help me to understand if I have to add an RLS role to the remaining users that shoudln't have any restriction to the data. Or any other solution will be very welcomed. I have a paginated report users run directly on our Power BI Report Server 2017. It contains 10 datasets that access different cubes in our SSAS MD database. If one of the cubes is unavailable when the report is run by users they get an error of "Query execution failed for dataset ____" and the report does not show. Not a friendly message. Is there a way to elegantly handle this error and inform the user that there is an issue with the data source? ThanksCan I use PBI Service dataset for PBI Report Server?
Hi, So I have model in PBI which I use for multiple reports and I always connect to PBI Service dataset and create new report for PBI Service. *The dataset uses cloud and on-premise data via PBI Gateway. Can I use this dataset for PBI Report Server? Open PBI for Report server, select dataset from PBI Service, create report, upload report to PBI Report Server. I tried it and I am getting an error: We couldn't connect to the Analysis Services server. Make sure you've entered the connection string correctly. Thanks. K.
data source credentions for shared datasets
Hi All, I have been using shared datasets for users to use and create reports. This all works well. See link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/access-dataset-odata I am also able to publish these reports onto the report server but I am unable to set a username and password that works. I have tried Anonymous, Basic and Windows Authentication and all fail. Is there a linked server I need to do or something else. Without this I can not set a scheduled refresh. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Granting Access to All workspace users to Refresh the dataset
Hi, I have made a dashboard in power Bi desktop which gets data from two sources. The first source is an excel file saved in the local drive and the other source is salesforce. I have then published the dashboard to the power Bi service and i can refresh the dataset because of the on-premises personal gateway i have established. However, i would want everyone that has access to the workspace be able to refresh the dataset. Can you please explain to me how this can be done. Thank you.
