4 TopicsImprove performance Power BI desktop for report server
Hi everybody, I have a huge dataset coming from mobile in-app events tracking and my company deploys Power BI Report Server (ver. Jan 2023) to visualize the data. Data is fetched daily and stored in a schema located on a on-premise SQL Server database. Data volumn grows expotentially (1 million rows appended each day). I design a star schema including 1 fact table and 4 dimension tables and use direct query to connect all tables which are stored in the SQL Server. I have troubles with performance of report, the report takes about 1 to 2 minutes to present all visuals when end users interact with it. Can anybody suggest me a good model/type of storage mode in PBI and version of Power BI Desktop for report server to solve my problems? Thank you in advanced.Solved912Views0likes2CommentsCorrect URL Creation in DWH Dim v Fact tables
Hi All, I'm relatively new to the DW & Reporting game, but I’m hoping you can share some wisdom with me. I'm looking to include URLs within a Datawarehouse to be used in PowerBI Reports. The body of the URL will be much the same but change based on the unique system id, e.g. order number, or username. When I see reference to these online it all seems to be created via measures in the PowerBI Desktop and just popped in wherever. My question is when creating these within a DWH model, should they be created within the dimension table or the fact tables? My gut says the Dimension table, but I'm not sure. Thank you!Solved2.2KViews0likes4CommentsMultiple Data Models
Hello-- I see there is a way to have multiple layouts of data models in the Relationship View tab. Distinct from the 'All Tables' tab can you have: one page operate off one data model with different relationships, let's call it 'Tab A' and then another page operate off a separate data model with different relationships, calling this 'Tab B'? Each of these models would be have distinct uses from one another for reporting purpose. Appreciate any input thank--especially if I am looking at it from a wrong/harder way. Thank you.9.4KViews1like1CommentPower BI RS : Connect to a data source on the server ?
Hello, I would like to know if we can connect to a data source on the server (Power BI RS) ? I created 3 reports with almost the same data model but when I need to modify something, I need to do that on every report. That is annoying and not very optimized. This is why I try to see if we can connect the 3 reports on a unique data source uploaded on the server. Thanks a lot for your help Regards Kevin1.3KViews0likes2Comments
