We are excited to invite you to our upcoming community session featuring James Serra, Industry Advisor - Federal Civilian at Microsoft. James will be sharing his expertise on the intriguing topic of "Data Lakehouse, Data Mesh, and Data Fabric: Exploring the Alphabet Soup of Data Architectures." Session Details: Title: Data Lakehouse, Data Mesh, and Data Fabric (the alphabet soup of data architectures) Date: 9th August 2023 Time:18:00 hrs CET /12:00 PM EDT Speaker: James Serra,Microsoft Session Description: In this session, James will guide us through the fascinating world of data architectures, demystifying the buzzwords such as Data Lakehouse, Data Mesh, and Data Fabric. He will provide a detailed comparison of these concepts with a modern data warehouse, discussing their benefits, drawbacks, and key considerations. James will delve into real-world use cases, allowing you to assess which approach aligns best with your big data requirements. Additionally, he will share insights on implementing a data mesh and data lakehouse within Microsoft Fabric. Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights and expand your understanding of data architectures. Join us for an engaging session with James Serra! To attend the session, we kindly request you to mark yourself as "Going" on the event page and add it to your calendar. The link to join the session will be shared on the event page a few days before the session. Make sure to check the event page at the time of attending for the link. We look forward to your active participation and enriching discussions during the session. Let's continue our journey of exploration and knowledge together!Deciphering Data Architectures
Data fabric, data lakehouse, and data mesh have recently appeared as viable alternatives to the modern data warehouse. These new architectures have solid benefits, but they’re also surrounded by a lot of hyperbole and confusion. In this presentation I will give you a guided tour of each architecture to help you understand its pros and cons. I will also examine common data architecture concepts, including data warehouses and data lakes. You’ll learn what data lakehouses can help you achieve, and how to distinguish data mesh hype from reality. Best of all, you’ll be able to determine the most appropriate data architecture for your needs. And I’ll finish with discussing Microsoft’s version of the data mesh using Microsoft Fabric. The meeting will start at 5.30pm with refreshments. The presentation will start shortly after 6pm.
