We have developed a report using Power BI Desktop for Report Server (May 2021). We have developed a report that has 5 data sources. 2 of them are web sources. The report connects to all data sources when it is open in Power BI Desktop. We uploaded the report to Power BI Report Server (May 2021). We then set up the data sources and the 2 web sources fail. Here are the details: Data Source 1: Type: Web Credentials: Anonymous When clicking "Test Connection" it fails with this message: Couldn't connect The report server couldn't connect to the data source using the information you entered. Make sure you've entered the connection string and any credentials correctly. Hide error details Web.Contents failed to get contents from 'https://XXXXXXX.XXX.XXXXXXX.XX/XXX' (400): Bad Request Data Source 4: Type: Web Credentials: Anonymous When clicking "Test Connection" it fails with this message: Couldn't connect The report server couldn't connect to the data source using the information you entered. Make sure you've entered the connection string and any credentials correctly. Hide error details Web.Contents failed to get contents from 'https://XXXXXXX.XXX.XXXXXXX.XX/XXX/XXX/XXX/XXXXXXX/XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX/XXX' (405): Method Not Allowed How does authentication work when the credential is set to anonymous? How would Power BI Report Server connect to the data source? What account would it use? Would we have to check if this is a firewall or network security issue? Any help on resolving this would be appreciated.Solved11KViews0likes3CommentsPowerbi reportserver is not show connection string and credential after restore

Dear, I downloaded Jan 2021 powerBI desktop and then deploy one pbix to server. The credential is succeed, but when I clicked "refresh now" in "Scheduled refresh" failed. The error message: SessionID: 548021a4-42b8-4d93-9c99-edb78918a5c4 [0] -1056505856: COM error: Microsoft.PowerBI.ReportServer.ASEngineManagedRoot, No credentials were found for the datasource. Regards, Nancy Update info: 1. I have tried to download and upload again... failed again with same error 2. I have checked with my teammates and they told me that this server is upgraded to 2021.1 version. Actually, this server is not only used by myself. I cannot force server owner to upgrade server or restart server. Thus, based on these situations, how to do????? Final update: I do a copy on 2020.5..... Because the server version can't be decided by myself....Solved1.8KViews1like5CommentsReport Server Web Credentials
Hi guys I have a power bi report published on the power bi report server with 3 different data sources (1 web and 2 sql). All of the credentials are correct when I test it locally on power bi desktop as well as on the server under the data source tab (using basic credentials). However, when I setup a scheduled refresh. The web credentials don't seem to be working properly. I get the error message below "The credentials provided cannot be used for the Web source." As a result, I have to manually refresh the data everyday and republish it to the server. Has anyone come across this issue before?1.2KViews0likes1CommentThe credentials provided for the SQL source are invalid
Hi, We have a test PBI Server and we're successfully saving our reports into the related report server url. There's a consulting firm that works with our company and they need to save some reports to that test server url. They connect to a client machine in our domain with a user which has access. They develop PBI reports on that client machine and trying to save these reports to our test PBI reports. That client machine has network access to the test PBI server. I've added the user, that they are using, in security tab of report server url. They can see the contents in related folder of report server url. But when they try to save the report to that url, they are getting the error below; 2018-07-25 14:00:09.2770|ERROR|142|Error Processing Data Model Refresh: SessionId: 717320c8-0edf-4f7d-a733-595bc91eef3e, Status: Error Failed Data Refresh, Exception Microsoft.AnalysisServices.OperationException: Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'The credentials provided for the SQL source are invalid. (Source at TestServerIP;db_name.). The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface. The command has been canceled.. The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface. Normally, for the users who want to save report to that test PBI server, we did not give any db permission and all of them can successfully save the reports. We've given db permission for that user, but they are getting the same error. Anybody has an idea what's the problem?13KViews0likes2Comments
