Hi, We are using Power BI report server March 2018. I have a dev server set up and I am trying to expand user access to allow users to create their own schedules and manage reports. It seems that I would have to assign "System Administrator" to do this. I have read other articles suggesting I can add roles and/or customise them. I can't find this facility anywhere! Is someone able to tell me how to do this? Thanks in advance Chris.Solved26KViews0likes7Commentshttps configuration

Good afternoon. We are trying to secure our implementation of Power BI server. When a client requests the server, in some of the responses, the internal ip address is shown, for example: {"@odata.context":"https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/Reports/api/v2.0/$metadata#Me","Id":"yyyyyy-zzzz-xxxx-eeee-kkkkkkkkkkkk","Username":"user_name","DisplayName":"user_name","HasFavoriteItems":false,"MyReportsPath":null} Does anyone know how to get this to stop sending the IP address and send a name instead? Thanks, Gene1.4KViews0likes3CommentsPower BI report server configuration
What is the configuration of the Power BI report server (number of cores, RAM, SSD volume, SAS fast hard drives, etc.) and the report server database server (number of cores, RAM, SSD disk size, volume SAS fast hard drives, etc.) for industrial use by 1000/3000/5000 users?641Views0likes1CommentSession Time out (X appears over all visuals)
I have users logging into a report After X amount of time all visuals break and have an X over them because of session timeout. Report is fixed by F5ing or refresh page. Does anyone know where this session timeout time is configurable?721Views0likes0CommentsIssues using Save As or Upload of PBIX files
Hello everyone, I've seen a few postings about with this solutions, but I feel like we have address the elements proposed in those. I was hoping someone might be able to provide some advice about this issue (and if I'm incorrectly addressing one of the other solutions let me know where I'm getting it wrong). We recently installed PBI Report Server (Version 1.1.6582.41691 (October 2017)). I have downloaded the linked October 2017 compatible version of PBI Desktop (Version: 2.51.4885.3981 64-bit (October 2017)) When I try to 'Save As' a report from the desktop, I get an error of "An error occurred while attempting to save the report to Power BI Report Sevrer" When saving to disk a blank pbix file to upload, I get the error. "There was an error uploading your .pbix file. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file." Here are some of the errors from our logs that appear to occur around the time of the attempted save/upload. I was looking at some of the responses that referred to URL reservations, since these would have changed, but I am not particularly sure what to look for with those. For anyone that can provide some advice, thank you. If you need further details, please let me know.929Views0likes0CommentsConfigure Power BI report server using PowerShell
Hi, is it possible to configure Power BI report server using PowerShell? I already have Power BI report server installed (also using PowerShell), but I have not run the Report server configuration manager yet. Is it possible to automate this? For SSRS it is possible to retrieve the configuration and manipulate it, something like this: $config = Get-WmiObject –namespace "root\Microsoft\SqlServer\ReportServer\NameOfMyInstance\V13\Admin" -class MSReportServer_ConfigurationSetting -filter "InstanceName='NameOfMyInstance'" I'm having hard time to achive something similar for Power BI report server. We have another site listening on port 80 with the servername. I would like to change PowerBI to use a host header (aka different URL name). So instead of http://servername:80/ReportServer I want this instead: http://powerbi:80/ReportServer GUI Report Server Configuration manager does not allow this to be changed in the GUI.Solved12KViews0likes1CommentConfiguration Manager - Can't connect to the database server
Hi ! I'm configuring the Report Server in the Configuration Manager. I'm on the "Database" part. I click on "Change Database" then "Create a new report server database". I leave everything as it is : I've seen several tutorials where they just leave it like that without changing anything and moving to the next step, but when I do it I get the following error : I'm still fairly new to all of this so sorry if the answer is obvious but I'm kind of stuck... Thank you very much in advance.Solved48KViews0likes2Comments
