At the request of the Security team, is there a way to disable the comment feature for the Browser? They are concerned that allowing file uploads or attachments might impact the overall system. Previously, this feature could be disabled via the database, but it seems that option is no longer available. Is it no longer possible to customize this functionality for application users?Solved1.6KViews0likes6CommentsPower BI Report Server Jan 2021 Commenting permissions issue on Power BI reports
Has anyone else had issues with Commenting on the Power BI Report Server in the Jan 2021 release? This is occurring for a normal user with Browser-only role (and so only the "Comment on reports" commenting permission). When they attempt to open the "Comments" panel on the right of the browser page when a Power BI report is open, they see the add comment area at the top of the comments panel but none of the existing comments and they receive a popup with this type of error: The permissions granted to user '**current ad user id**' are insufficient for performing this operation. This issue only appears to occur on Power BI reports, the comment panel seems to work fine on SSRS reports. And the comment panel appears to work fine with Power BI reports IF you are a user with elevated permissions (a role that also includes the "Manage comments" permission). Is this a known issue? Any fixes available or additional troubleshooting I can do? Thanks.Solved4.8KViews0likes9CommentsComments alert on Report Server
Hello, My customers can create comments for the reports I have published under PowerBI Report Server. (I don't use PowerBI Services) How can I know they have added comments because I have no notification or alert that a comment has been created. I always have to open the comments pane to check if a new comment has been created which is not convenient at all. Thank you for your answer ! Hi all, Our consumers access PBI Dashboards via SharePoint and we edit the URL to strip out everything but the dashboard as we don't want them digging around the server via a crumbtrail or getting overwhelmed by options (refresh, etc.). Unfortunately we also lose the 'Comments', consequently we don't use the comments as an organisation, but I'm keen to embed a performance message narrative into the organisation. Is there a way to keep the dashboard and the comments or a SharePoint/PBI workaround? Thanks for any help.1.5KViews0likes4Comments
