Hi all, What I'm struggling with at the moment: We have an Azure tenant with 1 SQL server and 3 databases running I have created several PowerBI reports in the desktop version, everything works well When publishing the reports, I get an error for most of the visuals, but not all: Error fetching data for this visual, A connection could not be made to the data source with the Name of '{"protocol":"tds","address":{"server":"tcp:db-.......windows.net","database":"sql-........database"},"authentication":null,"query":null}'. I have tried using workspaces, app registration in Entra ID, etc. Firewall is set to allow access, roles and groups as well. The only thing I can think of is a gateway, but seems to me we should be able to manage access without if some of the visuals return with data. What am I missing?? Hello, I'm new to Power BI and I'm facing an issue when trying to allow access by IP address to Azure SQL. I created a firewall rule to permit access from a specific IP, as indicated in the error message I received. However, I've noticed that Power BI IPs change periodically, which requires me to constantly update the list of authorized IPs. My question is: how can I obtain the IP range used by Power BI in the Brazil South region, in order to ensure more stable and secure access to Azure SQL? I would like to ensure that my environment continues to function smoothly, even with variations in Power BI IPs. I appreciate any guidance or information on how to address this issue.Solved2.4KViews0likes3CommentsPower Bi Report Builder | Limited Rows in Sub Reports
I am unsure if this is a limitation of the Power BI service or not, but any advice would be greatly appreciated. Synopsis: Using Power Bi Report Builder's sub-reports, we can select an account in a top-level report and pass parameters to display related information via sub-reports. If we load 42 or more rows in any one subreport, the workspace will refuse to display the data after it loads the rows. In this case, we made a simplified version that has only 1 sub report that contains 84 rows. The other row is the name of account on the Top-level report. Notes: The sub-report will load as long as there are less than 42 rows in each sub report in the Top-level Report. When there are more than 42 rows we are able to pull the data without issue from the backend. Thank you, - Ian613Views0likes2CommentsModel Refresh with Azure SQL and Report Server
Hi, I am trying to connect to an Azure SQL Database from an on-prem report server (sep 2021). I would like to use "Username and Password" as authentication methode (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/data-sources), but I don't know how to configure it. I had no problem to connect to the Azure SQL Database via Power BI Desktop. I used the "Microsoft account" option to authenticate using Power Bi Desktop. This option is not available when configuring the reporting server. Thanks for your help!Solved912Views0likes3CommentsPower bi DB server setup as alternative for Azure SQL server
Dear Experts I need to setup a power bi configuration for generating dashboard report on power bi services in environment similar to (azure sql server) , please review the attached Image with the thread , I need to do this setup on the cloud using (open source) repositories (Not Azure). The Infrastructure and processes as the following: 1-Extract the data from API as (JSON) format. 2-Create a script e.g.(Python) that convert the JSON format into Tabular (Row & column) format the script will do the cleansing part of the data. 3-The script on (2) will Insert/Update the data into (Mysql or Postgressql) DB. 4-We need to put the Power Bi (PBi) desktop application in a server (cloud). 5-This server on (4) have credentials on (PBi) services to refresh the data daily and setup this through Enterprize Gateway. 6-The User will be able to read the updated data from (PBi) cloud services. I need the Ideal setup to do the above Infrastructure as an alternative of (Azure Sql server) , taking into consideration the following: The host(s) should be in the cloud. For The power bi desktop application (4) is it better to be on the same host of the DB (3) or in a separated host? which is more better? explain please. The alternative solution should be less cost than Azure by at least 40-50%. Waiting your advises.Solved1.6KViews0likes5CommentsData Source Connection Properties, Azure SQL question
I have a paginated report that gets data from an Azure SQL Server. In the SQL code in the Dataset, one column is CURRENT_USER that gets me the AD user email address when running the SQL code outside the report. When uploading the report to a Power BI Workspace the CURRENT_USER column is empty. How do I configure the data source in Power BI report builder without adding user/PW in the data source and use 'ActiveDirectoryIntegrated'. Tried a lot of settings but don't get it to work. Either I have to add a user in the data source or it dont work in the report. Used 'ActiveDirectoryIntegrated' in Advanced properties.
