Hi, I'm trying to automate PowerBI reports deployment using Azure Pipelines and PowerShell. I am able to connect to PowerBI using Connect-PowerBIServiceAccount and a service principal. I also can list workspaces and existing reports. My next task is to change the data source connections. I have been following this MS documentation https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/connect-data-source-apis but when I try the following: # Get report parameters $parameters = Get-RsRestItemDataModelParameters '/Infusion_Model_Auto' I get this error: Failed to create a new session to http://localhost/reports/api/v2.0/me : | The cmdlet cannot protect plain text secrets sent over unencrypted | connections. To suppress this warning and send plain text secrets over | unencrypted networks, reissue the command specifying the | AllowUnencryptedAuthentication parameter. I'm not sure what's going on, since I already have an active connection. Thanks for any help.Solved3.3KViews0likes3CommentsAutomated Dataflow to Logged-In Account
Hi all, I have an idea that could streamline the user experience in Power BI. When a user logs into their account, the data flow should automatically direct to the logged-in account. This would ensure that each user only sees data relevant to their own account, enhancing security and personalization. Currently, users may need to manually select their data source or filter the data after logging in. By automating this process, we can improve efficiency and reduce the risk of errors. Has anyone tried implementing something similar or know if this is possible with existing Power BI features? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help!1.1KViews0likes0CommentsExport Report Page from Report Server to PDF with Single Click
Are there any ways to automate the exporting of PDFs from a PowerBI report page from the Report Server, with user-selected filters and what not to a saved folder that doesn't require dedicated capacity and is super simple and quick? I have tried building a button within each report page itself that triggers a PowerAutomate automation, but without dedicated capacity nothing works. Thanks!Solved561Views0likes1CommentPower BI Report Server Dashboard Usage Stats
I'm interested in learning how to generate usage statistics, such as user logins, dashboard visit counts, and least-viewed screens. Could anyone please guide me through the process of creating an execution log or utilizing existing data to develop a Power BI report for publication on the Report Server web portal? Additionally, is it possible to automate the generation of these usage reports?1.1KViews1like2CommentsPowerBI - CICD using Azure DevOps
Power BI is a business analytics service by Microsoft. It aims to provide interactive visualizations and business intelligence capabilities with an interface simple enough for end-users to create their own reports and dashboards. Currently, there is no direct way of Implementing CICD in PowerBI. Using the Publish menu from the PowerBI Desktop is the easiest way to deploy/publish a report as of now. In this article, we are going to see how we can implement source control and CICD for PowerBI using Azure DevOps.131KViews10likes31CommentsAutomated PDF Generation
Hello, We need to generate some multi-page PDF's each month and we have a Power BI Report Builder report that does what we want. We were able to automate the export using a Premium license and Power Automate. But then when we tried to loop it to do what we need it gave an error stating that PPU accounts can only perform an export once every 5 minutes. Apparently we need to change to a capacity license for $5,000 per month (!!!!!) to accomplish this task? It seems ubsurd that we would need to go from $20/mo to $5k/mo to export some reports. Does anyone know of a reasonable way to dump some reports out to PDF automatically in a performant and cost effective way using the Microsoft platform? Thanks, ChrisSolved4KViews0likes8CommentsInvoice Checking for automation purposes
Hi PBI Community I want to create a DAX measure which returns a "✓" when the invoice amount posted is equal to the same as the previous journal entry posting. and a "✗" when the invoice amount is different. It needs to be conditional on the Amount being posted to the same G/L Account ID and the same Vendor Name. I made the following, but it doesn't consider the element of previous journal entry posting or whether it is the first posting for that Vendor and related G/L Account ID. Automation Check = if(ISBLANK([TY (EUR)]), blank(), IF(CALCULATE([TY (EUR)] / [€ Avg.]) = [# Postings], FORMAT("✓", "Green"), FORMAT("✗", "#Red") )) How could I change it so that the measure returns "x" when it is first postings as well, and not only compares total amount / avg. posting = count of postings. The matrix visualization looks like this right now:521Views0likes1CommentAutomated row for averages in Power Query
Hi there, so my question is that in power query is there a way for me to get a new column that shows the average of values in a row? The number of columns will be updated on a daily basis. So, would need the average column to be updated on a daily basis. For eg: We have a table here, say just 4 columns of data as of now and 5th column being average of 4 columns on a row wise representation. What if tomorrow, another column comes in between Jan 4 & average column. I need a way for it to automate this and give me row wise data whenever a new column is added. This image is just an example from normal excel, but my data is processed in Query, of course can't show the photo since data is sensitive. Once processed within Power query, I have it loaded into a Pivot table. So, it makes crucial for me to have data set in exact same format. what can be done?676Views0likes1Comment
