I'm working on a Power Bi template for my company. Since we are a global comapny i added Time Zone tables that help the end-user filter the visual for their Time Zone. Now I'm trying to create a DAX measure that will get the values in a DATE/TIME type column and sum the given UTC Offset in Hours, however I'm having a hard time when there's no value in a give row, DAX will just either not return the rows with blank or return the offset. What I'm trying to achieve is a function that will ignore the blank values and still return them, and when there is a value actually SUM the End Time UTC with the Offset. Note: [Current UTC Offset] is a measure that returns a decimal number from -12 to +12 How can i achieve this?Solved721Views1like2CommentsPower BI Report Server migration to new servers
We have three Power BI Report Server environments with each of these enviornments having a development, unit acceptance testing, and production setups. These environments were set up 8 years ago and are running on Windows Server 2016 (operating system) and SQL Server 2016 (for the report server databases). We are setting up new servers with Power BI Report Server to run on Windows Server 2025 and the Power BI Report Server database to run on SQL Server 2025 on Windows Server 2025. I have a couple of questions. The first and most basic is bringing the existing folders and reports to the new server. When cloning the original Power BI Report Server database (on SQL Sever 2016) to the new SQL Server 2025 is all that needs to be done? Do all the folders, reports, and security (on folders and reports) come over as well? I am just verifying. The second question is that we are thinking of consolidating all three environments into one consisting of DEV, UAT, and PROD. How would this be done. I see that one environment can be migrated over with the original database cloned to the new SQL Server 2025 instance (for example when we are doing DEV). How would the other 2 DEV environments be brought over to the new DEV environment. They each have their own database so the cannot be restored over the new database which has the PBIRS database from the first environment. For the other 2 DEV environments would we have to create the folder structures on the new DEV PBIRS and manually copy all the reports to it? Would we then have to duplicate the manually duplicate the permissions? We are looking for advice on whether to pursue one consolidated environment or build three new environments (each consisting of DEV, UAT, and PROD).Solved713Views0likes1CommentQuery: Power BI Custom Visual API Block – GPT/Gemini Integration Issue
I’m working on integrating ChatGPT or Google Gemini into Power BI using a custom visual to enable interactive AI responses directly from the report, based on the dataset contents. Everything works fine when I test the API in Postman, but Power BI blocks the API call from the custom visual due to security restrictions, most likely related to Content Security Policy (CSP) or cross-origin (CORS) issues. I’ve Tried So Far Built a custom visual in Power BI using React and TypeScript Integrated OpenAI/Gemini API logic inside the visual Created a proxy API server to forward the API requests Used tunneling tools like: Localtunnel ngrok Cloudflare Tunnel But unfortunately, the API calls are still being blocked when the custom visual is rendered inside Power BI Desktop I Need Help With How can I successfully connect Power BI custom visual to OpenAI/Gemini API through a proxy or tunnel? Is there a recommended tunneling or reverse proxy approach that works with Power BI visuals? Any other approaches to solve the problem. Please share your thoughts. Any guidance or step-by-step solution would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!Experiencing random refresh errors after upgrading to Power BI RS January 2026
After we upgraded to January 2026 Report Server we started getting a random error with refresh schedules: “Failed to connect to AS” It can happen with any report, totally random, but when manually trigger the refresh it goes away. We did not change any settings and it never happened with previous RS versions. Please advise. RegardsSolved2.2KViews0likes9CommentsError related to data refresh in file: tmmdmodeltm.cpp
Hi, I have developed my report locally and refreshed data with no errors and also no errors has speen spotted anywhere in the report locally. Now im publishing the report to server. Tried to refresh the data and got an error related to data refresh in server. Has anyone faced similar problem? "An error has occurred. Several errors occured during data refresh. Could someone help me out, what this file does or what this error-message refers to? Thanks!1.8KViews0likes2CommentsGuidance on Affordable Licensing Options for Power BI Report Server
Hello everyone, I am planning to move to Power BI Report Server and have been reviewing the associated pricing and licensing options. From what I have found so far, it appears that we need either a Premium capacity (minimum F64+) or SQL Server with Software Assurance, both of which seem prohibitively expensive for my use case. My objective is simply to set up an on-premises Power BI Report Server using our local infrastructure, without leveraging cloud services from Microsoft. Could someone guide me on whether there are any more cost-effective licensing options to use Power BI Report Server? Specifically: Is it possible to use Power BI Report Server with a cheaper subscription/license than Premium or SQL Server with SA? Are there licensing models or workarounds suitable for small to medium deployments that don’t require heavy cloud investment? Thanks in advance for your help.Solved10KViews0likes6CommentsPower BI Report Server don‘t support "Fields Parameter"

Hi Team, I’m working on a project timeline visualization in Power BI. My goal is to show projects across months (MMM-YYYY) with managers clearly visible. Current challenges: The Microsoft Gantt visual only supports duration units like Days, Hours, Minutes, Seconds. There’s no option to format the timeline axis as MMM-YYYY or set granularity to Month. Most advanced Gantt visuals (MAQ, PowerGraph, xViz) require paid subscriptions, which is a blocker for many users. What I need: A free Gantt visual that supports Month-Year granularity and custom date formatting. Ability to group by Manager and show project bars spanning start and end dates. Why this matters: Monthly timelines are critical for project planning and reporting. Many organizations rely on Power BI’s free visuals for accessibility and cost control. Could Microsoft consider adding these features to the default Gantt visual or provide a free alternative?
