Analyzed In Excel - Filter the fact table with a field of a dimension table.
Supposing there is a star model in the datamodel of the semantic model. Current situation : In Analyze in Excel a filter based on a field of a dimension table doe's filter the fact table. No relationship are carried forward to Excel. Expected situation : be able to filter the fact table with a field of a dimension table. Currently there are 4 types of roles in the access of a workspace : contributor, admin, member, viewer. All of them allows to display all data of the datasets or the dataflows. In our organization, the data sources settings in the enterprise gateways are managed centrally (created and modified) by a single "technical user". The admin users who create the datasets are not assigned to these data sources. So they cannot start a pbi.com refresh. Therefore, each dataset has to be taken over by the "technical user" to assign the correct datasource in the gateway settings and thus enable the online dataset refresh. We would like this "technical user" to be allowed only to use the functionality available in the dataset and dataflow settings + the launch of a dataset or dataflow refresh in order to insure he is not able to access to the data (neither by a report display or with a power Bi desktop connected to the dataset or connected to the dataflow) unless he is defined in the allowed list. This situation allows a central monitoring team to manage datasets and dataflows settings, to launch refreshes and monitor their failures without accessing the data content or being able to modify datasets or dataflows.71Views2likes1CommentRe: Dataflow REST API - Get Refresh History
As the dataflow solution fits exactly with our technical constraints (a good balance between refresh duration and user experience in Power BI.com) we will extend the usage of it for heavy datasets. But we cannot finalize the industrialisation of a sequence of 3 dataflows and the final dataset. To do so, it is absolutly necessary to be able to capture the refresh history of the dataflows in the REST API. I think it would be logical to have in the REST API the same functionalities for dataflows than for dataset.1.5KViews0likes0Comments
