Hello, My trial capacity is about to expire in 5 days. I have got a renew capacity option - when I went ahead and renewed the trial - I seem to have my no of free days reset to 60. Does that mean my existing trial capacity will continue for 60 more days including all items created by me like my workspace and notebooks withing? I have not checked if my trial capacity ID has changed from before after renew. ok thanks. The document also says that each trial can have 5 trial capacities. I see only one capacity that got created when i started the trial. Will creating another capacity with my trial work for the problem mentioned above? if yes what are the steps to create the same? Or is it that when the trial ends all associated capacities will end. Ok, so I will have another team member start the trial just a few days before expire. I assume I need to add that user to the workspace and make him an admin. In addition as suggested I need to assign the workspace to the new trial capacity via the admin portal. At that time the workspace will then get assigned to 2 trial capacities - one my older one which will expire shortly and the new one. Is this permitted - assigning workspaces to 2 trial capacities? Also I am assuming once the workspace is successfully assigned to the new trial capacity, all items in the workspace like my lakehouse, environment, pipeline all of these will also be automatically assigned to the new capacity and continue to be functional.7.8KViews0likes3CommentsApproaching the end of a Fabric trial - need to retain the workspace
I am approaching the end of my Fabric trial capacity. I have created a workspace and developed a pipeline with several notebooks to enable ETL. There is also a report in my workspace which is connected to the lakehouse in the workspace. Is there any way that I can retain these items even if my trial expires? I understand that the items will not be deleted for max 7 days post expiry. Documentation suggests that one can create a new user and start a new trial - even if I do manage doing so - and make that new user a admin of the workspace, will that retain the workspace even if the original trial started by the original user expires? Alternatively if one of the colleagues is an admin on the workspace and his trial has not expired, will the fabric items continue to exist? Thanks for the reply - when I check the details - it tells me that it cannot find a direct lake table(several infact). These are the ones that I deleted and regenerated by running the pipeline again. All other settings seem to be fine. Pls note this was working before I deleted the tables. Several manual refresh have noo effect. The refresh option in settings remains disabled by Microsoft. Pls note that if I create a new semantic model I am able to view the changed data, but the earlier report which is built on the earlier semantic model - that has a broken connection with the live data and cannot be refreshed.4KViews0likes0CommentsDirect lake mode disabled for power bi report
I have a power bi report created on a semantic model (not default) in a fabric workspace. The data in the model has been populated by a pipeline - several jobs add tables. There was an error in one of the tables, hence I deleted the table from the lakehouse and re-ran the job. I then refreshed the semanti model - the data is now correct and refresh is succesful. However I received an email that the Automatic update of the direct lake data has been disabled - direct lake for the semantic model in the workspace - due to retry failure - power bi will no longer detect changes in the data in OneLake. - how can I fix this? what could I have done wrong? My report is heavy and I do not want to rebuild it on a newer semantic model? I have another question around Fabric trial and billing. I have installed the Fabrics capacity metrics app. Since I am under trial, I was expecting the billing type to indicate that under compute. However the type indicates it is billble. Confused here, as most of these items are Fabric items - lakehouse, notebook etc. Is it right to assume tht type may display as Billable in the Metrics app, but due to trial no cost will be added to my bill.3.6KViews0likes1CommentRe: Fabric trial and billing for shortcuts with a target in another region
Thanks a lot for the clarification. The entire concept of OneLake is to avoid data duplication. Shortcuts do a fantastic job by allowing us to access any data anywhere. Fabric capacity in itself is significantly priced. So to control costs, I would ideally need my ADLS Gen2 in the same region as the Fabric capacity, or then copy over the data into another ADLS Gen2 in the same region.3.6KViews0likes1CommentFabric trial and billing for shortcuts with a target in another region
Hello, I have enabled the fabric capacity. I want to build a data pipline in Fabric. I have created a short cut to the data in ADLS Gen2. However this is in a different region than the region of my trial. Now I plan to load to data in a notebook and transform before writing it to the delta format (in the onelake). I understand since I am in trial period, my spark pool consumption/ onelake or any fabric items should not incur any cost. However will the data transfer across regions - when data is loaded from the target to be transformed in fabric - incur any costs?
