How to dynamically select a default parent value in a Power BI hierarchy slicer for different users.
Problem Description I am building a Power BI Template App that is installed by multiple customers. After installation, each customer enters their own credentials and the report loads data for their account. The report contains a hierarchy slicer (for example, Parent → Child departments). I want the report to automatically select the appropriate primary/root parent by default based on each customer's data. The challenge is that the parent name is different for every customer, so I cannot save a fixed slicer value in the report. What I have tried 1. Bookmark/default slicer selection I tried selecting a parent value and saving it using a bookmark before publishing the Template App. However, this does not work for different customers because the bookmark stores the selected value/name. For example: Customer A may have Company A as the parent. Customer B may have Company B as the parent. Customer C may have another parent name. Therefore, a bookmark created using Customer A's value cannot dynamically select Customer B's parent after the Template App loads Customer B's data. 2. IsPrimary column I am considering adding a column such as: IsPrimary = 1 for the root/primary parent in each customer's data. The expected behavior would be: When the report first loads, automatically select the hierarchy member where IsPrimary = 1. The actual parent name can be different for every customer. The hierarchy slicer should show that parent as selected by default. If the user manually selects another parent/child, their selection should override the default and filter the entire report normally. Question Is there a supported way in Power BI to create a dynamic, data-driven default selection for a hierarchy slicer? In other words, instead of storing a specific value such as "Company A" in the slicer/bookmark, can Power BI dynamically determine the default selected hierarchy member based on a condition such as IsPrimary = 1 after the dataset is refreshed with each customer's data? Hi Everyone, Problem Statement: We have published our Power BI Template App through Microsoft Partner Center and configured Customer Leads with our CRM HTTPS endpoint. The endpoint is successfully validated in Partner Center, and manual requests are correctly received and stored in our database. However, after customers install and use our Template App from AppSource, no lead requests are sent to our CRM endpoint. As a result, no customer records are created. We are already able to build the connector, generate the .mez file, place it in the Custom Connectors folder, and successfully use it in Power BI Desktop. Our question is about the certification process. We want the KPIFire connector to appear in Power BI Desktop > Get Data for all users after certification. Currently, in Partner Center we only see the "Connectors and Agents for Microsoft Copilot Studio" offer. However, it requires a solution.zip file and rejects our package with the error: "Solution package not found at root of the package zip file" Could you please confirm: Is this the correct certification path for a Power BI custom connector (.mez)? Do we need to convert our connector into a Power Platform Custom Connector and submit a solution.zip?
