Re: Need Month-Year Granularity in Free Gantt Visual for Power BI
Hello Kedar_Pande I tried this but there then what happens is it only show the projecte is active during a particual month and doesnt show it is active till the end of the project time line. The requirement is to show what manager is busy during a year and how they can allocate resource.1.4KViews0likes0CommentsNeed Month-Year Granularity in Free Gantt Visual for Power BI
Hi Team, I’m working on a project timeline visualization in Power BI. My goal is to show projects across months (MMM-YYYY) with managers clearly visible. Current challenges: The Microsoft Gantt visual only supports duration units like Days, Hours, Minutes, Seconds. There’s no option to format the timeline axis as MMM-YYYY or set granularity to Month. Most advanced Gantt visuals (MAQ, PowerGraph, xViz) require paid subscriptions, which is a blocker for many users. What I need: A free Gantt visual that supports Month-Year granularity and custom date formatting. Ability to group by Manager and show project bars spanning start and end dates. Why this matters: Monthly timelines are critical for project planning and reporting. Many organizations rely on Power BI’s free visuals for accessibility and cost control. Could Microsoft consider adding these features to the default Gantt visual or provide a free alternative? I’m working on a Power BI dashboard that pulls data from five different sources, each with its own schema and no relationships between them. Each source contains its own date field and unique measures. I want to create a single table visual that: Uses a common date column (Month/Year) in the table Displays two measures side-by-side: Total Sales Closed (from one source) Total Tasks Closed (from another source) The goal is to synchronize these measures by date, even though the datasets are unrelated. What I’ve Tried: Created a disconnected Date table using CALENDAR() and added columns like Year, Month, and YearMonth. Used TREATAS in DAX to align each measure with the disconnected Date table. Created a new column to strip time from the datetime fields using INT() and DATEVALUE(). Built measures using CALCULATE + FILTER + TREATAS. Despite this, the measures return blank values in the visual. Request: I need guidance on: How to correctly sync measures from unrelated datasets using a disconnected Date table. Why the current approach using TREATAS and cleaned date columns might be failing. Best practices for building a unified visual when sources are not related.Solved476Views0likes3CommentsRe: DAX Measure for Rolling 3-Month Average Not Working as Expected

I’m trying to calculate a rolling 3-month average of a calculated column Working_Hours in Power BI. The logic should behave like Excel’s moving average: For the first few months, it should return a cumulative average until 3 months of data are available. From the 4th month onward, it should return a rolling average of the previous three months for example For April - It should consider Jan feb and march For may Feb, march and Aprile. I’ve created a Metric Month column using EOMONTH([Closed_date], 0) and a calculated column Working_Hours that excludes weekends using a Calendar table. However, the DAX measure I’ve written is returning incorrect values — either the same value across all months or inflated numbers that don’t match the expected logic. I’ve tried using DATESINPERIOD, FILTER, and CALCULATE with AVERAGE, but the measure doesn’t respect the month context correctly. I’ve also ensured that the Calendar table is related to the Metric Month column. Could you please help me with the correct DAX measure or advise on how to structure this calculation properly?Solved2KViews0likes9Comments
