Talk 1: Zero to Fabric App: Automatisierte Legacy-Code-Transformation mit Rayfin.

18:30 Uhr 1. Vortrag & Fragen

19:15 Uhr Pause mit Essen & Gesprächen

19:45 Uhr 2. Vortrag & Fragen

20:30 Uhr Abschluss und Zeit für weitere Gespräche

Das Meetup findet in deutscher Sprache statt.
Wir freuen uns auf dich!

Hier gehts zur Anmeldung! https://www.meetup.com/inovex-munich/

AI-Driven Warehouse Optimization with Queue-Based Picking

Description

This session presents a real-world case study on using system-driven orchestration, operational data, and AI-assisted optimization to improve warehouse efficiency in SAP EWM. The transformation moved warehouse execution from a Warehouse Order (WO)-based picking model to a queue-based, work center-driven approach, addressing manual processes and coordination challenges in high-volume operations.

The legacy process depended on printed VAS instruction sheets, pick tickets, and HU labels that were manually sorted and managed through Kanban boards. The redesigned solution introduced queue-based task allocation aligned with work centers, AI-assisted workload balancing, optimized pick paths, and improved synchronization between VAS order creation and picking execution.

The solution also removed constraints such as one consolidation group per WO and one HU per consolidation group. Mobile printers generated labels at Warehouse Task confirmation, eliminating dependency on pre-printed documents. Multiple pickers could work simultaneously on the same warehouse order, enabling better coordination, real-time operational decision-making, and simultaneous staging for production orders with multiple WOs.

Quantity-based sorting and FIFO enforcement using SRCI further supported intelligent inventory flow, storage utilization, and inventory rotation.

The transformation resulted in increased picks per hour, improved VAS start-to-completion times, greater production-order processing capacity, millions of dollars in savings, increased outbound shipments, and higher stock transfer volumes.

This practical case study demonstrates how operational data, AI-assisted insights, and system-driven warehouse execution can be combined to improve efficiency, scalability, and decision-making in complex warehouse environments.

Claude Code and Rayfin, Part 3: Adding AI and Shipping Your Fabric App Safely - Ankur Napa

Part 3 closes the series. The dashboard from Part 1 became a live, signed-in Fabric app in Part 2. Now we make it smarter and safer to change.

We'll use Claude Code to add an AI assistant that answers plain-English questions about the app's Fabric data. Then we'll move the business logic into Rayfin functions, have Claude Code write the tests and set up a GitHub Actions pipeline so every merge deploys cleanly. You'll see what to review by hand before trusting any of it.

What we'll cover

Recap: Parts 1 and 2 in five minutes

Adding an AI assistant over your Fabric data

Rayfin functions for backend logic, written with Claude Code

Tests Claude Code writes, and how to check them

CI/CD with GitHub Actions, so every merge ships safely

Open Q&A

You can join without the earlier parts, though they help.

Part 2 picks up where Part 1 left off. We take the dashboard MVP built with Claude Code and Rayfin and turn it into an app people can actually use on Microsoft Fabric.

We'll connect the dashboard to real Fabric data, including a Power BI semantic model, then add sign-in and role-based access. Claude Code will handle the refactors as the brief changes. Finally we'll deploy the app and walk through what to check before you share it with a wider team.

What we'll cover

Recap: the Part 1 MVP in five minutes

Connecting Rayfin to Fabric data and a Power BI semantic model

Adding sign-in, roles and permissions with Claude Code

Iterating on the dashboard as requirements change

Deploying and sharing the app, plus the limits to plan around

Open Q&A

You don't need to have joined Part 1, though it helps.

Join us for a live, hands-on session on going from an idea to a working dashboard MVP. We'll use Claude Code on top of Rayfin, Microsoft Fabric's open-source SDK for code-first app backends.

We'll start from a plain-English brief and let Claude Code scaffold the Rayfin data model, roles and backend. Then we'll build an interactive dashboard mock-up on Fabric data. You'll see where the AI saves hours, where it still needs a human check and how to turn the mock-up into a deployed app with rayfin up.

What we'll cover

Setting up Claude Code for a Fabric and Rayfin project

Prompting Claude Code to generate the data model and seed data

Building dashboard screens and KPIs from a short brief

Deploying the MVP to Fabric and sharing it with stakeholders

Open Q&A

It suits Power BI developers, data engineers, analysts and anyone who wants to prototype faster.

It is time for yet another meetup!

We are happy to invite you to another chapter in our Fabric journey, this time exploring the realm of agentic development in Microsoft Fabric. For this we are honored to welcome Wolfgang Strasser to the mix!

It is going to get agentic. Stay tuned!

Event Details

📅 Date: Thursday, 15th of October 2026, 6 p.m.
📍 Location: Microsoft Office, Hamburg (Axel-Springer-Platz 3, Hamburg)
🍴 Food and Drinks Provided

Agenda

18:00 – Arrive, grab a drink, and find your spot

18:15 - Warm up session
Speaker:
Maria Mohr - Data & AI Engineer @ Obungi GmbH, Niels Siepe - Data Analytics Engineer @ Obungi GmbH

18:30 – AI-assisted data engineering in Microsoft Fabric - From Code Gen to Column-Level Impact Analysis
Data pipelines ship faster than teams can document, test, or trace them. A column rename quietly breaks three dashboards. A schema drift silently poisons a semantic model. Sound familiar? This session puts AI to work on the problems data engineers actually lose sleep over - demonstrated live inside Microsoft Fabric with real Lakehouse pipelines, notebooks, and OneLake artifacts:

Code generation: Convert requirements into Fabric notebooks and pipeline JSON using natural-language prompts. See what works, what needs guardrails, and where human review is non-negotiable.

Living documentation: Auto-generate and continuously sync technical documentation from actual pipeline and notebook code - so docs never again drift from reality.

Proactive data quality: Let AI inspect Delta table schemas and data distributions to propose validation rules, detect anomalies, and generate test cases - catching drift before it hits production.

Lineage & impact analysis: Answer "What breaks if I change this column?" by tracing column-level lineage across Fabric pipelines, Spark notebooks, OneLake tables, semantic models, and Power BI reports - and visualize the blast radius before the change ships.

What you'll take home:

A practical toolkit: which AI capabilities (inside and outside Microsoft Fabric) are production-ready today and which ones to watch.

Repeatable patterns for AI-maintained documentation and automated data-quality checks.

An honest evaluation framework: where AI accelerates data engineering versus where it introduces new risks (and more work).

See what was announced at FabCon Barcelona and how these features help us to even use more AI-assistance for our data engineering work.

Speaker: Wolfgang Strasser - Microsoft Data Platform MVP (11 yrs) | I turn Microsoft Fabric from a licence line-item into a platform your business actually trusts. Data Consultant @ ACP CUBIDO

19:45 – Discussion & Drinks
Engage with our speakers and participants in discussions while enjoying some refreshments.

Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your Microsoft Fabric expertise, exchange ideas, and network with the community.

We look forward to seeing you there!
