Solved

when user open or report from Power Bi Service, how is the data processing and storage

when a user open a report from Power BI Serivice, Can you tell me the full process when user viewing a report?

The data is cached in memory? and the data is encrypted and decrypted by what when user viewing report from browser

Meanwhile, if user editing a report from Power BI Service, can also tell me the process? would the report be encrypted? and how

  • Hi pennyhoho117 ,

    1. Data is retrieved from memory (Import) or queried live (DirectQuery) and encrypted in transit (TLS).
    2. Data at rest is encrypted using Microsoft-managed or customer-managed keys (Azure Key Vault).

For editing, only metadata (not datasets) is updated, and encryption remains the same during save or publish.
